An integrated in vitro antioxidant/in vivo metabolomics approach unravels the synergistic effects between oregano essential oil and vitamin C as a nutritional strategy for alleviating heat stress in rabbits.

This study investigated the synergistic antioxidant effects of oregano essential oil (OEO) and vitamin C (Vit-C) in rabbits exposed to heat stress using both in vitro and in vivo approaches. A preliminary in vitro DPPH assay demonstrated that combining half-concentrations of OEO and Vit-C yielded superior antioxidant activity compared to the full concentration of each individual compound. To test these findings in vivo, 24 adult male rabbits were allocated to four groups for 35 d under naturally occurring heat stress conditions (air temperature = 30.58 ± 1.04, relative humidity = 71.29 ± 3.83)

Comprehensive exploration and comparison of chemical constituents of Paris polyphylla var. chinensis and Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis through two-dimensional chromatography, metabolomic analysis and furostanosides quantitation.

Paris polyphylla var. chinensis (PPC) and Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis (PPY) were recognized as two legal species of Paridis Rhizoma in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, exhibiting distinct chemical profiles primarily in terms of spirostanosides content. However, the chemical differences of other types of steroidal saponins remained unclear, comprehensive component comparison is lacking. In this research, an offline two-dimensional separation system (comprising HILIC and C18) was established to thoroughly explore and compare the chemical components between PPC and PPY. Additionally, a nontargete

A novel adverse outcome pathway in aluminum-induced male infertility: Oxidative stress-mediated endoplasmic reticulum stress and endocannabinoid system activation delineated by network toxicology and metabolomics.

Aluminum has been recognized as a reproductive toxin, yet the precise mechanisms by which embryonic exposure impairs male offspring development remain largely unclear. The key point is that no systematic adverse outcome pathway (AOP) network has yet been established to link aluminum exposure with reproductive disorders. This study employed an integrated approach-combining network toxicology and non-targeted metabolomics, and in vivo/in vitro experiments-to establish a novel AOP elucidating how aluminum induces spermatogenesis impairment in mice. Mechanistically, in vitro studies using mouse TM

Unravelling lumbar disc herniation severity beyond MRI : integrated transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses highlight glycerophospholipid metabolism and inform a machine-learning diagnostic model: a pilot study.

AIMS: While MRI serves as a tool for assessing the severity of lumbar disc herniation (LDH), it has been observed that imaging diagnoses do not always align with clinical symptoms in nearly half of patients. The absence of dependable prognostic biomarkers impedes the early and accurate diagnosis of LDH, which is critical for the development of further treatment approaches. Thus, the aim of this study was to elucidate the molecular mechanisms that determine pain and LDH severity. METHODS: We conducted a pilot study with 55 patients, employing transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses on blood sa
