Fine-Scale Movement Data Reveal Primarily Surface Foraging and Nocturnal Flight Activity in the Endangered Bermuda Petrel.

Foraging behaviour plays a fundamental role in animal fitness and population dynamics., particularly for central-place foragers like breeding seabirds. Among Procellariiform seabirds, petrels exhibit a wide range of foraging strategies finely tuned to the patchy and unpredictable distribution of resources. The extent and remote nature of their foraging grounds makes direct observation of foraging behaviour impractical, thereby requiring the use of remote tracking technologies. We deployed miniaturised multi-sensor biologgers and collected fine scale movement data to investigate the at-sea beha

Exploring eye-movement changes as digital biomarkers and endophenotypes in subclinical eating disorders: an eye tracking study.

OBJECTIVE: Previous research has indicated that patients with Anorexia Nervosa (AN) exhibit specific eye movement changes, identified through eye tracking sensor technology. These changes have been proposed as potential digital biomarkers and endophenotypes for early diagnosis and preventive clinical interventions. This study aims to explore whether these eye movement changes are also present in individuals with subclinical eating disorder (ED) symptomatology compared to control participants. METHOD: The study recruited participants using convenience sampling and employed the Eating Disorder

From Private to Public: Narratives of Gender-Based Violence Among the Everyday Voices of the #MeToo Movement.

In 2017, the #MeToo movement garnered international attention when millions of people used the hashtag to share personal experiences of sexual violence. The present study examines how noncelebrity users discussed their experiences of sexual victimization through a qualitative and quantitative content analysis of a random sample of #MeToo tweets (N = 1,427). We found that survivors prioritized details about the "who," "what," "where," "when," "why," and "how" of trauma in their disclosures. Key themes in their responses included child sexual abuse (22.7%), long-term adverse effects (17.6%), and

Passive movement interventions and spasticity outcomes in individuals with spinal cord injury during rehabilitation: a scoping review.

STUDY DESIGN: Scoping review. OBJECTIVES: Spasticity is a common and often challenging sequela of spinal cord injury (SCI) associated with pain, contractures, and reduced quality of life. While passive movement (PM) is primarily used to maintain joint mobility, clinical observations and participant reports suggest that both manual and automated techniques can contribute to the management of spasticity in SCI. However, the evidence base concerning PM's impact on spasticity outcomes in SCI populations remains unclear. This review aims to identify the scope and synthesize the empirical evidence

Direction Matters: A Crossover Study on Motor Adaptations to Movement-Evoked Pain Induced in the Lumbar Region.

BACKGROUND: People with chronic low back pain (LBP) often experience pain evoked by movement (movement-evoked pain [MEP]). Although pain changes how people move, it remains unclear whether motor adaptations to LBP are specific to the pain-provocative movement. This crossover experimental study aimed to understand whether pain modulated by movement in different directions induces distinct motor adaptations, and if these adaptations are consistent with a purposeful strategy to minimise pain. METHODS: Thirty healthy adults performed a repetitive box lifting task in two experimental sessions. Exp

Compositional patterns of device-measured movement behaviour in juvenile idiopathic arthritis: results from the multicentre ActiMON study.

BACKGROUND: Children and adolescents with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) are at increased risk for long-term physical and psychosocial complications, making physical activity (PA) and sedentary behaviour (SB) key modifiable lifestyle factors. Although increasingly acknowledged as relevant, data on the daily distribution of these behaviours in JIA remain scarce. This study aimed to (1) describe the time-use composition of SB and PA intensities in young people with JIA, (2) identify correlates of greater relative time spent in SB, and (3) compare movement behaviour patterns to matched popul

Splenic fibroblasts control marginal zone B cell movement and function via two distinct Notch2-dependent regulatory programs.

Innate-like splenic marginal zone (MZ) B (MZB) cells play unique roles in immunity due to their rapid responsiveness to blood-borne microbes. How MZB cells integrate cell-extrinsic and -intrinsic processes to achieve accelerated responsiveness is unclear. We found that Delta-like1 (Dll1) Notch ligands in splenic fibroblasts regulated MZB cell pool size, migration, and function. Dll1 could not be replaced by the alternative Notch ligand Dll4. Dll1-Notch2 signaling regulated a Myc-dependent gene expression program fostering cell growth and a Myc-independent program controlling cell-movement regu
