Microbial indoor air pollution in Delhi Metropolitan City is attributable to severe respiratory and general health effects among residents.

Indoor air quality plays a crucial role in the health and well-being of residents. Delhi, known as one of the most polluted cities globally, often receives insufficient attention in managing and mitigating related health impacts. This study isolated, characterized, and assessed microbial indoor air quality (bioaerosols) using multiproxy approaches and correlated findings with associated health effects. The spatial variation of bacterial aerosols showed irregular patterns, increasing from winter to summer and decreasing in fall; fungal aerosols consistently increased from winter to fall. Bacter

An introduction to North Carolina Integrated Care for Kids (NC InCK): A model to support whole-child health.

We describe the design of the North Carolina Integrated Care for Kids (NC InCK) model. NC InCK is one of seven nationwide CMMI-funded pediatric health care delivery models that integrate services to promote whole-child health. NC InCK was collaboratively designed by health care systems, the state Medicaid agency, Medicaid managed care organizations, child-serving organizations across multiple sectors, and families. The model uses three key approaches to integrate care: 1) a risk stratification algorithm using data across healthcare, education, and social systems to holistically understand need

Adverse childhood experiences and subsequent physical and mental health among young adults: Results from six universities in China.

Research has shown that individuals with adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are more likely to encounter heightened risks of physical and psychological challenges later in life. However, limited research has explored the comprehensive impact on the physical and mental health of young adults. Thus, we conducted a study to investigate the associations of ACEs with the physical and mental health of 18,723 college students in China. Their physical and mental health status was assessed using self-perceived health assessments, self-reported disease diagnoses, and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7

Childhood illnesses as risk indicators of adult mental health symptomatology.

BACKGROUND: Links between childhood illnesses such as acne and migraines and co-occurring or subsequent mental health symptomatology are not well understood. Early medical histories have seldom been examined as adversity risk indicators. PARTICIPANTS AND PROCEDURE: This survey analysis of college students (N = 2,636) examined links between four forms of childhood illness (migraine headaches, acne, asthma, and enuresis) and adult mental health symptomatology. RESULTS: Four medical conditions often diagnosed in childhood or adolescence were prevalent enough in the college sample to test as ris

Personality traits explain the relationship between psychedelic use and less depression in a comparative study.

Interest in psychedelics is increasing due to the potential for improved mental health and quality of life. However, adverse effects on mental health are still a concern. Personality traits have been suggested to both influence the psychedelic experience and mental health, and even be changed by psychedelic use. The present study describes for the first time a national sample of Swedish psychedelic users (n = 400) compared to a sex and age-matched control-group of non-users (n = 400) regarding mental health variables (depression, insomnia, problematic alcohol and drug use, and dissociation) an

Intersectional Microaggressions, Sexual Identity Concealment, and Mental Health of Young Black Sexual Minority Men and Transgender Women.

Previous research has demonstrated associations between experiences of microaggressions and negative mental and physical health outcomes, and national organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have acknowledged racism as a public health issue. Individuals with multiple marginalized identities, such as young Black men who have sex with men and transgender women, are commonly affected by discrimination and stigma, contributing to health disparities. One possible path by which microaggressions are linked to negative health outcomes for these groups is their impact on in

The Impact of Housing Insecurity on Access to Care and Services among People Who Use Drugs in Washington, DC.

People who use drugs are highly marginalized communities and are disproportionately affected by environmental changes-e.g., neighborhood gentrification-that affect housing availability and stability, particularly in urban locations. These changes could negatively affect individuals' access to and utilization of health care and social services, resulting in poorer health outcomes. This study examined the impact of gentrification and housing instability on drug users' access to harm reduction and other health services. Data were collected from 139 clients of a large harm reduction organization.
