OBJECTIVES: To retrospectively review 34 cases of urethral prolapse at an inner-city institution with an emphasis on diagnosis and treatment in the pediatric population.
METHODS: We performed a retrospective chart review of 34 patients of all age groups with urethral prolapse treated at our institution and reviewed the relevant published data.

Thyroid disorder is a well-recognized side effect of amiodarone therapy. Thyrotoxicosis is less common than hypothyroidism. During a 10-year period 35 of 104 patients with torsion of the spermatic cord had preoperative manual detorsion. The detorsion was performed at the initial physical examination, most commonly without analgesia or sedation. In 34 evaluable patients all of the testes were salvaged without any evidence of atrophy. One patient whose testis appeared viable at operation was not available for followup. Recurrence was prevented by subsequent orchiopexy. The elapsed time between urological consultation and surgery ranged from 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 months. Six patients underwent an elective operation.

BACKGROUND: Breast and cervical cancer screening uptake remains limited in Ghana despite the public health importance of cancer screening. This study examines factors that influence this behavior.
METHODS: Secondary analyses of the 2022 Ghana Demographic and Health Survey (GDHS) were conducted. A total of 9,489 women between the ages of 25 to 49 years were evaluated for clinical breast examination (CBE) and cervical cancer screening (CCS) uptakes.
