OBJECTIVE: To report a case of cervical dysgenesis presenting with hematometra.
DESIGN: Case report.
SETTING: Teaching and research hospital.
PATIENT(S): A 12-year-old girl presented with primary amenorrhea. At laparoscopic examination she was found to have a ball-shaped enlarged uterus without any type of connection to the upper normal-appearing cervix.
INTERVENTION(S): Conservative surgery with end-to-end anastomosis of the upper blunt end of the cervix to the lower part of the uterus was performed.
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S): Preserve fertility and/or maintain cyclic menstrual cycles.

Abstract We conducted a study of Mantoux reactions in children managed for tuberculosis (TB) at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) over a period of 4 y. Of the 97 eligible children managed for various forms of TB on whom a Mantoux test was conducted, 82 (84.5%) had a negative Mantoux reaction and 15 (15.5%) had a positive reaction. Rubella is a vaccine-preventable viral infection which in pregnancy can lead to foetal wastage and congenital malformations. A rubella IgG serosurvey of 430 consenting pregnant women attending the antenatal clinic was conducted at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria between 1 May 2007 and 29 February 2008. Questionnaires were also used to assess their level of awareness and pregnancy outcomes noted. PURPOSE: To report the epidemiologic, bacteriologic, and clinical features of a Chryseobacterium meningosepticum outbreak in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of a referral teaching hospital.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: From April to October 2002, a strain of C. meningosepticum was isolated from four neonates in the NICU. Many patients with head and neck cancer experience problems related to swallowing. A retrospective study of 156 consecutive patients who received a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) at a teaching hospital is presented. The results showed that 42% had complications. OBJECTIVE: To determine the incidence and time of onset of hypomagnesemia during refeeding in anorexia nervosa (AN).

A study of thirty-four cases of obstetric urogenital fistula managed over a ten-year period (1st January, 1989 to 31st December, 1998) at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital is reported. The incidence of obstetric urogenital fistula is 1.1 per 1000 births. The condition is associated with illiteracy and poorly supervised delivery. The authors report 100 cases of knee septic arthritis seen during ten years among 2298 patients admitted in the rheumatology department of Brazzaville university teaching hospital. Bone and joint infection is the first hospitalisation cause in this service. Knee is the first septic localization with 42% of cases coming before hip 25%, sacro-iliac 18% and shoulder 7%.
