Overestimation of blood pressure (BP) resulting from medial artery calcification (MAC) is a cause of pseudoresistant hypertension. In this condition, there is no noninvasive way to reliably assess the BP. We report the case of a 62-year-old man who had a four-limb MAC, hypertension despite five antihypertensive molecules, and significant orthostatic hypotension following the addition of the fifth drug. BACKGROUND: Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a frequent complication in postoperative period. The aim of this article was to evaluate the effect of dexmedetomidine on PONV.

Pure autonomic failure (PAF) is a rare sporadic neurodegenerative autonomic disorder characterized by slowly progressive pan autonomic failure without other features of neurologic dysfunctions. CN VI injury is rare and ranges in severity from diplopia to complete lateral rectus palsy with deviated gaze. OBJECTIVES: To compare MIBG (metaiodobenzylguanidine) uptake between Parkinson's disease patients with and without autonomic symptoms to investigate meanings of MIBG scintigraphy and correlations between autonomic symptoms and MIBG uptake.
METHODS: Forty consecutive patients with Hoehn-Yahr III or IV Parkinson's disease and 12 controls were enrolled. We compared cardiac MIBG uptake between patients with and without orthostatic hypotension. Similar comparisons were performed for constipation and bladder dysfunction.
