Knowledge, attitudes, and needs concerning fertility and preconceptional health in Germany-insights from a pilot survey.

Preconception health plays a key role in maternal and fetal outcomes. However, structured preconception counselling (PCC) has not yet been established in Germany or Austria. To explore knowledge, awareness, and counselling needs, a pilot survey was conducted among 52 participants (41 women, 11 men, 1 unspecified) during the "Long Night of Science" at Ulm University. Fertility knowledge was moderate, with notable gaps regarding age-related fertility decline and other relevant aspects of preconception health (e.g., folic acid intake, normotension, review of medication). Lifestyle factors such as

"Infertility is mostly for women": University students' knowledge and perceptions of risk factors associated with infertility in Ghana.

Understanding knowledge and perceptions of infertility risk factors is crucial for promoting fertility preservation. While prior studies have explored infertility awareness among university students based on gender, limited research examines both genders within a single study. This study investigates university-aged males' and females' knowledge and perceptions of infertility risk factors, identifying gender-specific risks. Conducted at the University of Ghana, the study employed a descriptive cross-sectional qualitative design, involving semi-structured interviews with 21 male and 18 female s

Automated acquisition of explainable knowledge from unannotated colposcopic images for predicting the natural course of CIN2.

OBJECTIVE: Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 2 (CIN2) represents a critical turning point in cervical cancer progression. While its natural regression rate reaches 50%-57%, CIN2 can also progress to higher-grade lesions or cervical cancer. Accurately predicting CIN2 outcomes is essential for individualized management and avoiding overtreatment. The present study aimed to develop a deep learning-based prognostic model using colposcopic images to predict CIN2 outcomes: regression, persistence, and progression, and to provide clinically meaningful risk stratification. METHODS: Colposcopic

Global trends and knowledge structure in robotic-assisted simple prostatectomy research: a bibliometric and visualized analysis.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) remains among the most prevalent conditions in men. Current surgical treatments are associated with a higher risk for perioperative complications, which drives growing interest in robot-assisted simple prostatectomy (RASP) research. This bibliometric analysis demonstrates visual mappings of collaboration patterns, publication trends, influential contributors, and core knowledge bases. The primary database was Scopus, covering 2008-2025. Data analysis and visualization were conducted using Biblioshiny and VOSviewer. Publications began to surge after 2020, reac

Artificial intelligence, surgical vision, and digital navigation in robotic urology: a bibliometric and knowledge-mapping analysis.

Digital technologies are increasingly used to extend the anatomical, functional, and procedural information available in robot-assisted urology, but their development has not been examined within a common field-level framework. The final corpus comprised 297 English-language articles and reviews from the Web of Science Core Collection after prespecified screening. We examined publication trends, collaboration patterns, citation relationships, author-keyword structures, and six mutually exclusive primary technology domains using R, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace. Annual output rose from 12 publicatio

Association between osteoporosis knowledge and bone health in patients with autoimmune diseases: a cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: Osteoporosis is a common skeletal disorder among older adults, characterized by reduced bone density and increased susceptibility to fractures, particularly in individuals with autoimmune diseases. Adequate knowledge of osteoporosis and active engagement in bone-protective behaviors may help prevent its onset; however, research examining this hypothesis within autoimmune populations remains limited. This study aimed to evaluate osteoporosis knowledge levels in patients with autoimmune diseases and to investigate the relationship between osteoporosis knowledge scores and bone minera

Investigating lexical knowledge and lexical processing in order to explore their role in second language utterance fluency.

Research has found that lexical knowledge substantially influences second language (L2) fluency. However, researchers investigating the role of L2 lexical knowledge on speakers' fluency have often measured lexical knowledge with written recognition tasks, which creates a mismatch between the assessment modality and the oral, productive skill. Furthermore, although some studies have considered the role of lexical processing (e.g., lexical retrieval and articulation) when researching utterance fluency, results have been mixed. The current study adds to this scholarship by using mainly productive

Current Knowledge of Respiratory Function in Early Onset Scoliosis and the Effect of Its Contemporary Surgical Treatment.

Early Onset Scoliosis (EOS), defined as presenting before 10 years of age, often has a significant adverse impact on pulmonary function, due to a complex interrelationship between the spine, chest, pulmonary structures and their development. Left untreated, EOS leads to premature death, with early fusion surgery to arrest curve progression making little impact on this. To date, the natural history has not been clearly established as compounded by the heterogeneity of pathologies, causing EOS and challenges in objective measurements of pulmonary function in this young age group. A desire to add

A meta-model of low back pain to examine collective expert knowledge of treatment effects and their mechanisms.

PURPOSE: Low back pain (LBP) is a complex, multifactorial condition with numerous contributors across biopsychosocial domains. To advance understanding of this complexity, we synthesized diverse expert knowledge on treatment effectiveness and underlying mechanisms using a systems-based, collaborative modeling approach. METHODS: Twenty-nine experts from diverse disciplines created individual fuzzy cognitive maps (FCMs) to represent their understanding of factors affecting pain, disability, and quality of life (QoL), along with treatment mechanisms. These maps were aggregated into a meta-model

BioMedGraphica: an all-in-one platform for joint textual biomedical prior knowledge and numeric graph generation.

MOTIVATION: Multiomics data analysis is essential for scientific discovery in precision medicine. However, translating analysis results of omics data analysis into novel scientific hypotheses remains a significant challenge. Human experts must manually review analysis results and generate new hypotheses based on extensive and interconnected biomedical prior knowledge, which is subjective and not scalable. While large language models can accelerate the discovery, their reasoning improves when grounded in structured, auditable, and comprehensive biomedical prior knowledge. However, biomedical kn
