BACKGROUND: The ideal indication for off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCABG) has yet to be defined. High-risk surgical patients may benefit the most when cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), aortic cross clamping, and cardioplegic arrest are avoided.
