We reviewed 30 cases of 360 degrees retinectomy in advanced anterior PVR or PDR with anterior traction. The preoperative visual acuity was light perception or hand motions. In all cases, a 360 degrees retinectomy with silicone oil tamponade was performed. After a mean follow-up of 10 months, the retina was attached in 83% and the visual acuity had improved in 47% of the patients. PURPOSE: Bilateral retinal detachment (RD) in Marfan's syndrome (MS) has a typical preoperative, operative, and post-operative course. This study describes symmetry of retinal tears and bilateral RD surgery in five MS patients over a period of 15 years.
METHODS: Six eyes with uncomplicated RD were operated on using the scleral buckling procedure, and four eyes with complicated RD were operated using a pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) and inner retinal tamponade with silicon oil.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the treatment of severe ocular injuries of anterior and posterior segments with temporary keratoprosthesis used in combined operations.
METHODS: With temporary keratoprosthesis a combined operation including pars plana vitrectomy, air-fluid exchange, silicone oil fill in, use of perfluorocarbon liquid, foreign body removal and partial penetrating keratoplasty was performed on 18 eyes of 18 patients with severe ocular injuries, and the postoperative changes and recovery were observed.

A retrospective review of long-term follow-up of Niebauer trapeziometacarpal arthroplasty for treatment of disabling arthritis of the basal joint was performed. Thirty implants in 27 patients were reviewed, with an average follow-up of 9 years (minimum, 4 years). All surgical procedures were performed by the senior author. The incidence and severity of extraocular muscle imbalance after conventional scleral buckling surgery was determined for 70 eyes of 68 patients with primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. The central venous catheterization (CVC) by subclavian vein puncture for total parenteral nutrition (TPN) has a high risk of complications in some situations such as neck or supraclavicular diseases, tracheostomies, costoclavicular deformities and coagulopathies. We used vitreous surgery to treat seven patients (eight eyes) with complicated retinal detachments associated with choroidal colobomas. All eyes had large choroidal colobomas and no evidence of peripheral retinal breaks. Small, atrophic breaks were detected in five of the eyes and were located in the base of the coloboma in four of the five eyes.
