INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES: BCG therapy deeply modified prognosis of high-risk non muscle invasive (NMI) urothelial carcinomas. However, these tumors remain potentially lethal. AIM: Application of immunotherapy to a patient with untreatable hepatocellular carcinoma.
CASE REPORT: The patient had a tumor of 60 mm in the liver. The pathological anatomic diagnosis was adenoma. However, after surgery of the tumor seven new lesions arose, showing that the original tumor had been a hepatocellular carcinoma. In addition, when hepatocellular adenomas grow to a size of more than 6-8 cm, they are considered cancerous and thus become a risk for hepatocellular carcinoma. Intravesical therapy with bacillus Calmette-Guérin has proven effects for reducing recurrence, progression, and death from non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer. These advantages are seen mainly when appropriate maintenance therapy is used for 1-3 years, in the context of appropriate patient selection, tumor management, and symptom support for potential side effects.

OBJECTIVE: To review our experience managing bladder cancer (BCa) in patients who have had renal transplantation. Optimal oncologic treatment can be challenging due to the immunosuppressed state and higher comorbidity.
METHODS: From January 2000 to August 2011, we identified 17 patients with a history of renal transplantation who were treated for BCa. Clinical, demographic, and oncologic data were collected. Patients treated with intravesical bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) were assessed for complications.
RESULTS: BCa diagnosis occurred at a median of 88.1 months after renal transplantation.

We report a culture-proven case of Mycobacterium bovis discitis in a 67-year-old man who had received intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guérin for bladder cancer 5 years previously. OBJECTIVE: Transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder is commonly treated with intravesical BCG. We report a cutaneous complication of BCG after therapy in 66-year-old male 4 years after initiating treatment.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A case review including pathological slides, laboratory data, and radiographic findings.
RESULTS: Biopsy findings showed an ill defined granulomatous process with chronic inflammation and necrosis.
CONCLUSION: The patient was managed on antituberculous therapy for a period of 6 months with resolution of symptoms.

Bladder cancer is the sixth most prevalent malignancy in the United States. The most common type of bladder cancer is urothelial (transitional cell) carcinoma, and cystoscopy remains the mainstay of diagnosis and surveillance. Management decisions for a patient with high grade (G3) T1 urothelial cancer of the bladder are critical. These tumors should not be classified as "superficial" since they are not confined to the urothelium. Patients with T1G3 bladder cancers are likely to have recurrence and the tumor will often progress, invade, metastasize, and cause death. Radical cystectomy as well as transurethral resection followed by intravesical BCG are acceptable initial therapies. This article reviews these treatment options and provides recommendations for management of high grade T1 tumors.
