Consensus statement: Supporting Safer Conception and Pregnancy For Men And Women Living with and Affected by HIV.

Safer conception interventions reduce HIV incidence while supporting the reproductive goals of people living with or affected by HIV. We developed a consensus statement to address demand, summarize science, identify information gaps, outline research and policy priorities, and advocate for safer conception services. This statement emerged from a process incorporating consultation from meetings, literature, and key stakeholders. Three co-authors developed an outline which was discussed and modified with co-authors, working group members, and additional clinical, policy, and community experts in

Enablers and barriers to Electronic Community Health Information System (eCHIS) usage in Kenya: A Work System Framework Analysis of frontline health worker experiences.

INTRODUCTION: The Electronic Community Health Information System (eCHIS) is Kenya's flagship digital health solution rolled out to strengthen community health service delivery and accelerate progress towards achieving universal health coverage. Despite its widespread rollout, evidence from global health initiatives affirms that the mere presence of a system doesn't guarantee meaningful use. Consistent eCHIS usage by frontline health workers remains a critical determinant of realising anticipated benefits, underscoring the need to understand the context-dependent enablers and barriers influenci

Eliminating Equity: A Culture-Centered Reading of the Attack on Health Equity in Project 2025's Mandate for Leadership.

Project 2025's Mandate for Leadership proposes a sweeping reorganization of the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This article reads the Mandate's HHS chapter through the culture-centered approach (CCA), joining its account of structure, culture, agency, voice, and communicative inequality to a critical discourse analysis of the chapter's mission statement, its five governing goals, and its data provisions. The chapter does more than oppose equity policies. It reorganizes the conceptual and infrastructural conditions under which health inequity can be named, measured

Community-based surveillance advances the Global Health Security Agenda in Ghana.

Ghana Health Service (GHS) has strengthened community-based surveillance (CBS) to facilitate early detection and rapid reporting of health events of all origins. Since June 2017, GHS has employed an event-based surveillance approach at the community level in a phased manner. CBS coverage has broadened from 2 to 30 districts across Ghana. Through this effort, capacity was built across all administrative levels in these districts to detect, report, triage, and verify signals, and to perform risk assessment and investigate events. Data were collected and analyzed during an evaluation of initial 2

Health supports needed for homeless persons transitioning from hospitals.

Being homeless has a negative effect on health and the health needs of individuals experiencing homelessness are complex and challenging to address. As a result of limited access to and use of primary healthcare, the main point of entry into the healthcare system for individuals experiencing homelessness is often hospitals and emergency departments. Persons experiencing homelessness are commonly discharged from hospital settings to locations that do not support recovery or access to follow-up care (e.g. shelters or the street). This can be costly to both the healthcare system and to individual

A Public Health Preparedness Logic Model: Assessing Preparedness for Cross-border Threats in the European Region.

Improving preparedness in the European region requires a clear understanding of what European Union (EU) member states should be able to do, whether acting internally or in cooperation with each other or the EU and other multilateral organizations. We have developed a preparedness logic model that specifies the aims and objectives of public health preparedness, as well as the response capabilities and preparedness capacities needed to achieve them. The capabilities, which describe the ability to effectively use capacities to identify, characterize, and respond to emergencies, are organized int

Adapting a Youth Sexual Violence Prevention Logic Model and Evaluation to Asian American and Pacific Islander Youth in Iowa: a Case Study.

Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) youth report a high prevalence rate of youth violence. Logic models that guide violence prevention programming are often not culturally specific and may not address the unique structural/social drivers of youth violence in minoritized communities. Monsoon has received Rape Prevention and Education (RPE) funding from the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (Iowa HHS) since 2007 through a competitive application process. The specific aim of Monsoon's Youth Sexual Violence Prevention Program (YVPP) is to "prevent gender-based violence by educat

Moving From Heart Failure Guidelines to Clinical Practice: Gaps Contributing to Readmissions in Patients With Multiple Comorbidities and Older Age.

This feature article for the thematic series on congestive heart failure (CHF) readmissions aims to outline important gaps in guidelines for patients with multiple comorbidities and the elderly. Congestive heart failure diagnosis manifests as a 3-phase journey between the hospital and community, during acute, chronic stable, and end-of-life (palliative) phases. This journey requires in variable intensities a combination of multidisciplinary care within tertiary hospital or ambulatory care from hospital outpatients or primary health services, within the general community. Management goals are u

Unmet long-term care needs of elderly people in the community: a review of the literature.

The extent of unmet need, or the extent to which needed assistance is unavailable for insufficient, is an important issue in public policy and financing of health and support services. This article reviews the research of literature to assess how unmet method is measured, and the extent of unmet needs among elderly people in the community. Measurement difficulties include variable definitions and measures of need across studies, the relative dearth of studies which undertake to measure unmet needs, and varying methodologies used to estimate need and unmet need. In addition, some measures of st

Pacific oral health: a scoping review.

INTRODUCTION: A growing body of literature reports on the oral health of Pacific peoples but a synthesis of the existing knowledge on Pacific oral health epidemiology is absent. This scoping review aims to summarise the evidence on Pacific oral health epidemiology. The findings of this review may help identify knowledge gaps and issues requiring health policy prioritisation. METHODS: The review followed the PRISMA-ScR guidelines for scoping reviews and included reports published prior to July 2023 on Pacific oral health, regardless of design. Searches were conducted across four databases, and

Listening to the Perspectives of Black Women on Perinatal Health Disparities: Reversing the Tide and Improving Outcomes.

INTRODUCTION: Pregnancy-related health in the USA fares worse than similarly resourced countries and the gap continues to widen. This trend however is disproportionately experienced by women of color. We have come to understand that this is due to the systems and structures that perpetuate racism. Despite our awareness of this, the voices of the community impacted by these systems have been largely left out of research. The authors aimed to utilize participatory research methods within a qualitative design to ask Black pregnant and parenting women about their lived experiences of pregnancy and
