Outcome Measures and Biomarkers for Clinical Trials in Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia: A Scoping Review.

Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is characterized by progressive lower limb spasticity. There is no disease-modifying treatment currently available. Therefore, standardized, validated outcome measures to facilitate clinical trials are urgently needed. We performed a scoping review of outcome measures and biomarkers for HSP to provide recommendations for future studies and identify areas for further research. We searched Embase, Medline, Scopus, Web of Science, and the Central Cochrane database. Seventy studies met the inclusion criteria, and eighty-three outcome measures were identified. Th

Ofatumumab regimens in chronic lymphocytic leukemia: a meta-analysis.

Ofatumumab's therapeutic impact on patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) has been the subject of increasing clinical research. However, in recent years, no studies have yet provided a pooled assessment of the treatment effect of ofatumumab vs. non-ofatumumab regimens. Therefore, we conducted a progression meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy of ofatumumab-based treatment in CLL patients using data from clinical studies. Relevant publications from PubMed, Web of Science and ClinicalTrials.gov were searched. The efficacy outcomes were progression-free survival (PFS) and overall surv

Norovirus-associated neurological manifestations: summarizing the evidence.

Norovirus, a positive-stranded RNA virus, is one of the leading causes of acute gastroenteritis among all age groups worldwide. The neurological manifestations of norovirus are underrecognized, but several wide-spectrum neurological manifestations have been reported among infected individuals in the last few years. Our objective was to summarize the features of norovirus-associated neurological disorders based on the available literature. We used the existing PRISMA consensus statement. Data were collected from PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Scopus databases up to Jan 30, 2023, using pre-

Locus coeruleus in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease: A systematic review.

The locus coeruleus (LC) is a nucleus in the brain stem producing noradrenaline. While cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease (AD) has primarily been related to cholinergic depletion, evidence indicates extensive LC degeneration as its earliest pathological marker. The current study aimed to systematically evaluate current evidence investigating the role of the LC in the pathogenesis of AD. A systematic search of the literature was performed on electronic databases including PubMed and Web of Science. Twelve animal, human post mortem, and human imaging studies were included in this review. S

Heparin infusions in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhages: clinical considerations for use beyond anticoagulation.

INTRODUCTION: Patients who have experienced an aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) may face a significant morbidity burden following the acute phase of their injury. Though commonly employed as an anticoagulant, heparin may have clinical utility related to its ability to mitigate the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chelate oxidized blood. AREAS COVERED: A comprehensive review of the literature was conducted on PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Library and Web of Science with the assistance of a medical reference librarian from January 20

Exercise dose-response relationship with heart rate variability in individuals with overweight and obesity: protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.

IntroductionObesity is a chronic relapsing disease process and serious public health concern that can lead to chronic diseases, medical complications and a higher risk of disability. Another significant feature of obesity is dysfunction in cardiac autonomic function, which leads to changes in parasympathetic and sympathetic regulation, which can be measured using heart rate variability (HRV). The objective of this review is to estimate the extent to which exercise doses impacts on HRV among individuals living with overweight and obesity class I and II.Methods and analysisA systematic literatur

Incidence trends for twelve cancers in younger adults-a rapid review.

Many cancer referral guidelines use patient's age as a key criterium to decide who should be referred urgently. A recent rise in the incidence of colorectal cancer in younger adults has been described in high-income countries worldwide. Information on other cancers is more limited. The aim of this rapid review was to determine whether other cancers are also increasing in younger age groups, as this may have important implications for prioritising patients for investigation and referral. We searched MEDLINE, Embase and Web of Science for studies describing age-related incidence trends for color

A bibliometric analysis of research on (R)-ketamine from 2002 to 2021.

Anesthetic ketamine is a racemic mixture containing equal amount of (R)-ketamine and (S)-ketamine. Increasing preclinical data show that (R)-ketamine has a rapid-onset and sustained antidepressant without significant side effects. There are currently many studies on (R)-ketamine, however, the quantity and quality of these studies are unknown. Therefore, we conducted a bibliometric analysis of research on (R)-ketamine from January 2002 to December 2021. We obtained the publications on (R)-ketamine from the Web of Science database during the period. A variety of bibliographic elements were colle
