Only few data are available on skin disorders in pediatric organ transplant recipients. In order to describe the whole range of dermatological diseases in a population of pediatric organ transplant recipients, we studied a group of 217 consecutive organ transplant recipients (168 kidney, 29 heart, 19 liver, one lung) aged <18 years at transplantation followed at a single center. Lyral 5% pet. was tested in 3245 consecutive patch test patients in 20 departments of dermatology in order (i) to check the diagnostic quality of this patch test preparation, (ii) to examine concomitant reactions to Lyral and fragrance mix (FM), and (iii) to assess the frequency of contact allergy to Lyral in an unselected patch test population of German dermatological clinics. 62 patients reacted to Lyral, i.e. 1.9%. With the aim to assess the prevalence and the main clinical correlations of skin lesions in diabetes mellitus, 457 diabetic subjects consecutively attending an outpatient clinic underwent a dermatological examination.
