It is estimated that 1 in every 200 US newborns has congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV). Delayed identification of cCMV in newborns precludes timely intervention to mitigate sequelae of the infection such as hearing loss and other neurological complications. Newborn testing for cCMV enables appropriate diagnosis and intervention by multidisciplinary teams to properly manage the immediate sequelae of cCMV, avoid unnecessary additional testing that can result from delayed diagnosis, and monitor for future complications. INTRODUCTION: Recurrent and episodic vestibular symptoms not fulfilling criteria for known episodic vestibular syndromes are named as recurrent vestibulopathy (RV). We aimed to compare the vestibular test results of RV patients with vestibular migraine (VM) and Ménière's disease (MD).
METHODS: Twenty patients with MD, 20 patients with VM, 18 patients with RV, and 20 healthy volunteers (HC) were evaluated. Pure-tone hearing thresholds (PTHTs), video head impulse test (vHIT), functional head impulse test (fHIT), and cervical vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (cVEMPs) were studied.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of hyperacusis and auditory processing (listening) difficulties (APDiff) in normal-hearing young adults and to explore the relationship between these two conditions.
METHODS: A total of 333 participants aged 18-24 underwent pure-tone audiometry tests and completed the Khalfa Hyperacusis Questionnaire (KHQ) and the University of Cincinnati Auditory Processing Inventory (UCAPI) online.

INTRODUCTION: Immunoglobulin G4-related sclerosing disease (IgG4-RSD) is a chronic fibro-inflammatory disease involving systemic multi-organ lesions, such as the salivary and lacrimal glands, lymph nodes and pancreas. The diagnosis of this disease is reliant upon clinical manifestations, laboratory tests, histopathologic results and radiological data. While pulsatile tinnitus (PT) and dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF) are not rarely associated, the finding of a conductive hearing loss (CHL) in this clinical picture is unusual. Starting from a case of CHL and PT, diagnosed to be due to a DAVF, we analyzed relationship between intracranial vascular abnormalities and inner ear fluids. DAVF was treated with endovascular embolization. Following this, there was a dramatic recovery of PT and of CHL, confirming their cause-effect link with DAVF.
