PET-detectable tau pathology correlates with long-term neuropsychiatric outcomes in patients with traumatic brain injury.

Tau deposits is a core feature of neurodegenerative disorder following traumatic brain injury (TBI). Despite ample evidence from post-mortem studies demonstrating exposure to both mild-repetitive and severe TBIs are linked to tau depositions, associations of topology of tau lesions with late-onset psychiatric symptoms due to TBI have not been explored. To address this issue, we assessed tau deposits in long-term survivors of TBI by PET with 11C-PBB3, and evaluated those associations with late-life neuropsychiatric outcomes. PET data were acquired from 27 subjects in the chronic stage following

Phylogenetic relationships, virulence and antimicrobial resistance properties of Klebsiella sp. isolated from pet turtles in Korea.

Klebsiella sp. are responsible for a multitude of infectious diseases in both humans and animals. In this study, phylogenetic relationships, virulence and antimicrobial resistance gene properties of 16 Klebsiella sp. isolated from 49 pet turtles were investigated. The isolates including Klebsiella oxytoca (n = 13) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (n = 3) were identified using 16S rRNA gene sequencing and each species formed distinct clusters in the neighbour-joining phylogenetic tree. The prevalence of virulence genes including ureC (100%) and kfu (68·75%) was observed among the isolates using Polyme

Altered Brain Glucose Metabolism Assessed by 18F-FDG PET Imaging Is Associated with the Cognitive Impairment of CADASIL.

Recurrent stroke and cognitive impairment are the primary features of patients with cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL). The cognitive deficits in these patients are known to be correlated with structural brain changes, such as white matter lesions and lacunae, and resting-state functional connectivity in brain networks. However, the associations between changes in brain glucose metabolism based on 18F-2-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) imaging and cognitive scores in CADASIL patients remain u

FDG PET/CT Demonstrated Precursor B-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma in a Pediatric Patient With Hemophilia B.

A 4-year-old boy with history of hemophilia B presented with increasingly enlarged scalp masses. Although they were initially thought as hematomas, unresponsiveness to the therapy lead to suspicion of malignancy, which prompted FDG PET/CT. The FDG PET/CT images demonstrated increased FDG uptake in the scalp masses and cervical lymph nodes. The pathology from the left scalp mass and the left cervical lymph nodes revealed precursor B-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma.

Gallium-68-Labeled Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen-11 PET/CT of Prostate and Nonprostate Cancers.

OBJECTIVE. The purpose of this study is to provide a concise summary of the current experience with 68Ga-labeled prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-11 imaging of prostate and nonprostate malignancies and benign conditions. CONCLUSION. PSMA is overexpressed in prostate cancer and in the neovasculature of many other malignancies. The relevance of PSMA as a biologic target, coupled with advances in the design, synthesis, and evaluation of PSMA-based radionuclides for imaging and therapy, is anticipated to play a major role in patient care.

Immuno-PET imaging for non-invasive assessment of cetuximab accumulation in non-small cell lung cancer.

BACKGROUNDS: Overexpression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) has been established as a valid therapeutic target of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the clinical benefit of cetuximab as an EGFR-targeting drug is still controversial, partially due to the lack of effective means to identify suitable patients. This study aimed to investigate the potential of radiolabeled cetuximab as a non-invasive tool to predict cetuximab accumulation in NSCLC tumor xenografts with varying EGFR expression levels. METHODS: The NSCLC tumors in model mice were subjected to in vivo biodistribu

A Clinical Feasibility Study to Image Angiogenesis in Patients with Arteriovenous Malformations Using 68Ga-RGD PET/CT.

Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) have an inherent capacity to form new blood vessels, resulting in excessive lesion growth, and this process is further triggered by the release of angiogenic factors. 68Ga-labeled arginine-glycine-aspartate tripeptide sequence (RGD) PET/CT imaging may provide insight into the angiogenic status and treatment response of AVMs. This clinical feasibility study was performed to demonstrate that 68Ga-RGD PET/CT imaging can be used to quantitatively assess angiogenesis in peripheral AVMs. Methods: Ten patients with a peripheral AVM (mean age, 40 y; 4 men and 6 women
