Due to its antiproliferative properties, daunomycin is of potential use in the treatment of proliferative vitreoretinopathy and capsular fibrosis after cataract extraction. Previous biomicroscopic, electrophysiologic and histologic studies in the rabbit had shown that higher drug doses caused damage to all ocular structures after exposure to daunomycin. We studied the effects of punctal occlusion on the intraocular pressures of patients treated with topical medications for glaucoma. Silicone punctal plugs were used to occlude the inferior punctum of one eye in each of 19 patients treated with identical antiglaucoma eyedrops in both eyes. Regeneration of the rat sciatic nerve was studied after a crush lesion (test lesion) on nerves previously subjected to a conditioning lesion. The test lesion was made approximately 30 mm proximal to the conditioning lesion. The period between the conditioning lesion and the test lesion was varied. Three low-viscosity perfluorocarbon liquids provided an intraoperative tool during vitrectomy to manage giant retinal tears. These clear fluids have a high specific gravity (1.8 to 1.9) and are immiscible with water. In six eyes, the giant tear was less than 180 degrees; in 11 eyes, it was 180 degrees or greater. A patient who presented with multiple episodes of subarachnoid hemorrhage was diagnosed as having a large mid-basilar artery aneurysm that had no definable surgical neck. The indications for insertion of semipermanent right atrial silicone catheters and immediate and long-term complications in patients admitted to a gynecologic oncology service, are described. Four reagents, Aerosil 380, Freon 113, Dextran sulfate 500-S, and a mixed organic solvent were tested for their abilities to produce optically clear, pooled human serum. Thirty-four patients with intermittent lower gastrointestinal bleeding were diagnosed angiographically as having angiodysplasia of the cecum and right colon. Repeated barium and endoscopic examinations were negative. Right colectomy was performed on 17 patients, who were followed postoperatively for up to 7 years. Of these, four patients rebled, two of whom had angiographic evidence of related lesions involving other parts of the colon and terminal ileum.
