Concomitant gallstone disease was not associated with long-term outcomes in ursodeoxycholic acid-treated patients with primary biliary cholangitis.

OBJECTIVES: Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is a rare disease characterized by intrahepatic cholestasis, whereas gallstone disease (GD) is common. In this study, we aimed to investigate the prevalence and impact of GD on the prognosis of PBC in China. METHODS: Medical records of the PBC patients were retrospectively reviewed and their follow-up data were obtained via regular structured, standardized telephone interviews. GD was defined as gallstones on ultrasonography or a history of cholecystectomy for gallstones. Propensity score matching (PSM) and Cox regression analysis were performed.

Development of a Motivation Communication Training to Aid Diabetes-Specialist Podiatrists With Adherence Discussions.

Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) impact a substantial proportion of patients with diabetes, with high recurrence rates, severe complications, and significant financial burden to health care systems. Adherence to treatment advice (e.g., limiting weight-bearing activity) is low with patients reporting dissatisfaction with the way in which advice is communicated. This study aimed to address this problem via the systematic development of a motivation communication training program. The program was designed to support diabetes-specialist podiatrists in empowering patients to actively engage with treatme

The Influence of Children's Pain-Related Attention Shifting Ability and Pain Catastrophizing Upon Negatively Biased Pain Memories in Healthy School Children.

The current study investigated the influence of children's ability to flexibly shift attention toward and away from pain information on the development of negatively biased pain memories, thereby employing a direct measure of attention control reliant on behavioral responses in the context of pain (ie, an attention switching task). The direct influence of children's attention-shifting ability and pain catastrophizing as well as the moderating role of this shifting ability in the relationship between pain catastrophizing and the development of negatively biased pain memories was examined. The Effect of a Biofeedback-Based Integrated Program on Improving Orthostatic Hypotension in Community-Dwelling Older Adults: A Pilot Study.

BACKGROUND: Orthostatic hypotension (OH) is prevalent among community-dwelling older adults and is associated with multiple negative health outcomes. Older adults are susceptible to developing OH because aging alters autonomic nervous system function. Biofeedback is a noninvasive, nonpharmacological intervention that can modulate autonomic nervous system dysfunction in older adults. OBJECTIVES: Our aim in this study was to examine the effect of a biofeedback-based integrated program on community-dwelling older adults with OH. METHODS: We conducted a controlled pilot study. Community-dwelling
