OBJECTIVE: We evaluated the computed tomography (CT) features of juxtapapillary duodenal diverticula (JPDD) with complications in patients who had acute abdomen.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Nineteen JPDD were evaluated in 14 patients (mean age: 50 years), who had acute abdomen on contrast-enhanced helical CT with a diagnosis of complicated JPDD by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). We present a rare case of a 45-year-old man with abdominal pain and features suggestive of intestinal obstruction. The CT scan of the abdomen demonstrated a large mesenteric mass involving the distal segment of jejunum. Bronchogenic cysts frequently occur in the mediastinum. They may be rarely encountered in the abdomen and retroperitoneum. Bronchogenic cysts can in fact mimic hydatid cysts. We report a case of retroperitoneal bronchogenic cyst below the right hemidiaphragm mimicking a hydatid cyst of the liver in a 30-year-old female.

A case of a very extensive form of the rare Bockenheimer's syndrome (genuine diffuse phlebectasia) in a 45-year-old female patient is presented. The subject presented phlebectasias of the upper right leg, the vulva and the right side of the abdomen. The experience of diagnosis and treatment of the ovarial tumor and cyst in 68 girls was summarized. Children were admitted to the hospital with an acute abdomen signs and in a planned order as well. All the patients were operated on. Children with benign ovarial tumor and cyst are alive. Four patients with malignancy have died.

We present the case of a 29-year-old, pregnant woman who, at 27 weeks' gestation, suffered an acute abdomen with hypovolemic shock that led to intrauterine fetal death in spite of an emergency laparotomy. Metastasis to the spleen is a very uncommon medical entity. The author reports on unusual case of splenic metastasis originating from carcinoma of the colon demonstrated by computed tomography of the abdomen. The metastases appear as low density space occupying lesions which is a characteristic appearance seen in other metastases to the spleen.
