Dexamethasone-cyclophosphamide pulse (DCP) is the prefered mode of therapy in pemphigus in India because it is relatively free from the side effects seen with heavy doses of daily oral steroids. One hundred forty-six pemphigus patients treated with DCP were observed for side effects of this regimen. One hundred forty mg of dexamethasone was administered IV in 200 ml of 5% dextrose over a period of 60-90 minutes on 3 consecutive days. We studied whether a short course of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) administered to normal donors immediately before bone marrow (BM) harvest would shorten time to neutrophil and platelet engraftment in matched related allogeneic BM recipients. Twenty-nine normal donors received 4 consecutive daily subcutaneous injections of G-CSF (median dose, 12.1 microg/kg per day; range, 9.6-15.7 microg/kg per day) immediately before BM harvest. A survey was conducted from October 1, 1993 to June 30, 1995 to determine the arboviral etiologies of febrile illnesses in the city of Iquitos in the Amazon River Basin of Peru. INTRODUCTION: Pain experienced during functional activities, referred to as movement-evoked pain (MEP), is a common and disabling symptom in individuals with knee osteoarthritis (KOA). Unlike pain at rest, MEP may better reflect the real-life burden of KOA and is increasingly recognised as a core outcome in musculoskeletal pain trials.
