BACKGROUND: Reparixin, an anti-inflammatory drug that inhibits interleukin 8 (IL-8) activity, might be life-saving for high-risk in-hospital patients without increasing the risk of infection according to a previous meta-analysis. BACKGROUND: We previously reported that nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) induced small intestinal damage through nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor family pyrin domain-containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome-dependent interleukin-1β secretion in mice.
