Personality Disorder Traits, Rorschach Performance, and Neuropsychological Functioning in the Case of a Serial Killer: The Importance of a Multilevel Approach in the Assessment of Personalities Associated with Extreme and Repetitive Violence.

The present paper utilized the case study of an incarcerated serial killer ("Keith") to demonstrate how combining three assessment techniques (the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV Axis II Personality Disorders, the Rorschach task, and a comprehensive battery of neuropsychological measures) within a multilevel personality assessment framework might elucidate possible personality-based underpinnings of extreme and repetitive violence-representing a "next wave" of serial killer research while also highlighting the empirical and clinical value of an empirically-neglected multilevel assessm

Psychological Support for Personality (PSP) versus treatment as usual: study protocol for a feasibility randomized controlled trial of a low intensity intervention for people with personality disorder.

BACKGROUND: Previous research has demonstrated the clinical effectiveness of long-term psychological treatment for people with some types of personality disorder. However, the high intensity and cost of these interventions limit their availability. Lower-intensity interventions are increasingly being offered to people with personality disorder, but their clinical and cost effectiveness have not been properly tested in experimental studies. We therefore set out to develop a low intensity intervention for people with personality disorder and to test the feasibility of conducting a randomized con

Decision making of heavy cannabis users on the Iowa Gambling Task: stronger association with THC of hair analysis than with personality traits of the Tridimensional Personality Questionnaire.

BACKGROUND: It is unclear whether impairment in decision making, measured by the Iowa Gambling Task (IGT), in addiction is substance-induced or the consequence of personality structure. METHODS: Analysis of the IGT, the Tridimensional Personality Questionnaire (TPQ) and cannabinoids in hair and urine were performed in 13 cannabis users and matched controls. RESULTS: Hair Delta(9)-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) correlated negatively with the last subtrial (cards 80-100) of the IGT (R = -0.67). In all participants (n = 26) the TPQ dimension, harm avoidance, correlated negatively with the total IGT

Determinants of multiple sexual partnerships among Hijra and transgender persons in India: evidence from the IBBS survey.

Multiple sexual partnerships (MSPs) act as a risk factor, increase vulnerability to sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV, and contribute to interconnected sexual networks that may facilitate broader transmission not only within high-risk networks but also to their partners. This study aims to estimate the prevalence of MSPs and factors associated with it among Hijra and transgender persons (H/TG) in India. This is a secondary data analysis of H/TG data from the National IBBS survey. The survey was conducted in 14 domains across 11 states of India using probability-based sampling. A tot

AI-enhanced culturally tailored intervention for Latino family caregivers of persons living with dementia: a feasibility study.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: CONFIDENCE is a culturally tailored intervention to reduce caregiver financial strain, which disproportionately impacts Latino family caregivers to persons living with dementia. CONFIDENCE demonstrated preliminary efficacy at lowering financial strain in a feasibility study, yet attendance in group videoconference sessions was low (62%). CONFIDENCE was revised to integrate the NeuViCareTM application (app) that leveraged an interactive artificial intelligence (AI) assistant and text message reminders to engage participants between sessions. This study examined whethe

Social exchange theory tenets and the employment of persons with disabilities in the Western Cape, South Africa.

BACKGROUND: Employment of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in South Africa's public sector remains persistently low despite progressive legislative frameworks. This reflects enduring structural, organisational and attitudinal barriers that limit meaningful inclusion, particularly at a provincial level. Compliance-driven approaches have proven insufficient in addressing the organisational dynamics shaping inclusion. This study is grounded in the social model of disability and applies social exchange theory (SET) to examine how perceptions of costs, benefits and reciprocity influence employment

Facilitating communication between persons living with dementia and their caregivers: Results of the VRx@home pilot study.

PURPOSE: Virtual reality (VR) interventions can improve the well-being of persons living with dementia (PLwD). However, little is known about the value of VR interventions on enhancing communication between PLwD and their caregivers in an at-home setting, which was the aim of this study. We also explored whether immersive VR differs from tablet-based technology. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Following baseline data collection, PLwD and caregivers completed a 4-week intervention by watching 360-degree videos together, either starting with the VR or Tablet-only condition (2 weeks per device). Dyadic association between support persons' attitudes towards medication for opioid use disorder and patients' mental health outcomes.

INTRODUCTION: Nearly one in three adults with opioid use disorder (OUD) has co-occurring depression or anxiety. Pervasive stigma towards medication for OUD has been identified as a barrier to OUD treatment initiation and retention, but whether stigma also complicates patient mental health outcomes remains unclear. METHODS: We analyzed longitudinal, dyadic data (n = 356 dyads) from a cohort of patients receiving buprenorphine from community health centers in California, who were accompanied by support persons (e.g., partner, family member, friend). We assessed how changes in support persons' s

Systematic screening for age-related comorbidities: Health care optimization among persons with HIV in an outpatient setting.

BACKGROUND: Age-related comorbidities occur earlier and more frequently in people with HIV (PWH) than in the general population and have emerged as a key challenge in long-term HIV care. Unfortunately, many of these conditions remain undiagnosed, and systematic screening in clinical practice remains limited. Therefore, we aimed to assess the burden of unrecognized age-related comorbidities in a clinical outpatient setting. METHODS: This cross-sectional cohort study was conducted from November 2023 to March 2025 at the HIV outpatient clinic, Copenhagen University Hospital, Rigshospitalet. A st

Correlation Is Not Prediction: Reassessing Predictive MRI Evidence in Guidelines for Persons With Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis.

BACKGROUND: Effective treatment monitoring and treatment decisions in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) require accurate and individualized prediction of future disease courses. Guidelines from the Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Multiple Sclerosis (MAGNIMS) group and the Canadian Multiple Sclerosis Working Group (CMSWG) frequently cite MRI outcomes as predictive, but the methodological quality of this evidence is uncertain. OBJECTIVES: This study aims to critically assess the methodological standards underlying predictive claims about MRI outcomes in four major relevant MS guidelin
