Interrupted type B aortic arch was repaired using aberrant right subclavian artery. In order to gain the full length of this vessel it was mobilised from a left thoracotomy. The aberrant vessel provides autogenous patch material with which to enlarge the ascending aorta and left common carotid artery.

METHODS: Geometrical analysis. Conventional banding and FloWatch-PAB perimeters were plotted against cross-sections. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model. CFD compared non-circular FloWatch-PAB cross-sections with conventional banding regarding pressure gradients. Clinical data. OBJECTIVE: The arterial switch operation was introduced in 1976 to correct transposition of the great arteries and has since replaced atrial palliation. This study examines the long-term outcomes of the arterial switch operation.

Reported in this paper are 8 cases of corrected transposition of the great arteries associated with anomalies. All the patients underwent the repair of the ventricular septal defect and atrial septal defect, the replacement of left-side tricuspid value, the pulmonary valvotomy and the placement of extra-cardiac conduit to the pulmonary trunk respectively with no hospital death after operation. The paper also described the selection of the heart incision, the prevention of injury of the conduction system and indication of the placement of extra-cardiac conduit.

The purpose of this study was to compare the cardiopulmonary responses at rest and during exercise of children following surgical correction of tetralogy of Fallot. The physiologic measurements assessed at rest and during maximal treadmill exercise included diffusing capacity of the lung for carbon monoxide, heart rate, oxygen consumption, minute ventilation, and cardiac output.
