BACKGROUND: Neuroblastoma (NB) is the most common extracranial solid tumor in children, with an incidence of approximately 1/10000. Surgical resection is an effective treatment for children with NB. Robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery is a new method and is superior to conventional laparoscopic surgery, since it has been preliminarily applied in clinical practice with a significant curative effect. This paper discusses significance and feasibility of complete resection of stage IV NB using robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery, while comparing its safety and effectiveness with conventional lapar

INTRODUCTION: After pyeloplasty, urinary drainage options include internal double-J (DJ) ureteral stents or externalized pyeloureteral (EPU) stents, which can avoid bladder symptoms and additional anesthetic exposure from stent removal. Comparative outcome studies, however, are lacking following primary pediatric robotic-assisted laparoscopic pyeloplasty (RALP).
OBJECTIVE: To compare operative success, operative time, hospitalization, and postoperative complications of EPU versus DJ stents following RALP.
STUDY DESIGN: Consecutive children undergoing primary RALP from 10/2013 to 9/2015 were

BACKGROUND: Robotic surgery, an emerging technology, has some potential advantages in many complicated endoscopic procedures compared with laparoscopic surgery. But robot-assisted cholecystectomy (RAC) is still a controversial issue on its comparative merit compared with conventional laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of RAC compared with LC for benign gallbladder disease.
METHODS: A systematic literature search was conducted using the PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library databases (from their inception to December 2017) to obtain

BACKGROUND: Primary yolk sac tumor (YST) of the vulva is extremely rare and only introduced in case reports [1]. For those, routine inguinal lymph node dissection (LND) in absence of palpable inguinal lymph node is questionable. To avoid complications of inguinal LND, such as lymphedema, inguinal sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) can be considered [2,3]. Since recent studies reported feasibility of robot-assisted inguinal lymphadenectomy [4], we showed the surgical procedures of robot-assisted inguinal SLNB.
VIDEO: A 33-year-old woman with vulvar YST was referred. Two 2 cm sized masses were f

OBJECTIVE: The mitral valve plasty (MVP) technique for degenerative disease is typically leaflet resection and suturing. However, this technique is time consuming and unreproducible. To overcome this disadvantage, we developed a nonresectional folding technique, which is fast and reproducible. In this report, we examine our new folding technique in robotic MVP.
METHODS: The new folding technique was performed in 10 patients (age 56 ± 15 years), and the conventional resection and suturing (RS) technique was performed in 22 patients (age 53 ± 8 years). In our new folding technique, we used two

We report the surgical procedures and perioperative outcomes of off-clamp, non-renorrhaphy robotassisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) in 7 out of 76 patients who underwent RAPN with off-clamp and nonrenorrhaphy between February 2015 and August 2017. The approach was chosen depending on the location of the tumor. Tumor enucleation was performed by using sharp incision and blunt dissection. For hemostasis, the soft-coagulation system was used and TachoSil○R was placed on the resection bed. As a rule, renorrhaphy was not performed. Median (range) patient age was 67 years (40-79), tumor size ; 14 mm

PURPOSE: Robotic-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RALP) has become a standard treatment choice for localized prostate cancer. RALP requires a steep Trendelenburg position, which leads to a significant increase in intraocular pressure (IOP). This study evaluated the effect on the retinal structure and function in patients undergoing RALP.
METHODS: Standard automated perimetry (SAP) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) were performed in 20 males scheduled for RALP at 1 month and 1 day before the operation and at 1 and 3 months after the operation. IOP measurements were made in the
