AIMS: The Brindley procedure, used since the 1980s, consists of implantation of a stimulator for sacral anterior root stimulation combined with a posterior sacral rhizotomy to enable micturition. OBJECTIVE: Long term follow-up study of stress incontinence operations shows a declining success rate in time, especially for the needle suspension technique. We evaluated the long term results of a modified bladder neck suspension operation.
METHODS: From 01-12-87 till 01-12-89 a total of 42 modified Raz bladder neck suspensions for stress incontinence were performed. Early evaluation at three months had shown a cure rate of 93%. Long term (mean 27 months) results were evaluated using a questionnaire.

The purpose of urodynamic testing is to measure and record pertinent physiologic variables while the patient is experiencing his usual symptoms. When the symptoms are reproduced, urodynamic findings enable the clinician to understand the underlying pathophysiology and to treat the patient effectively. Although at present it is most cost-effective to screen patients with cystometry and uroflow, multi-channel studies offer the most precise, artifact-free means of establishing the correct diagnosis.

AIMS: The American Urological Association/Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction stress urinary incontinence (SUI) guidelines strongly recommend the midurethral sling (MUS) for the index female patient with SUI. While numerous studies report long-term outcomes and complications for the retropubic MUS, these are largely absent for the transobturator MUS and are assessed in this study.
METHODS: This is an Institutional Review Board approved retrospective chart review of all women who underwent a transobturator MUS at a single institution from 2004 to 2010.
