We report the case of a 67-year-old patient on hemodialysis with asymptomatic gross hematuria and increased PSA levels who was diagnosed with invasive bladder cancer. The postoperative histological studies revealed a bilateral renal cell carcinoma, right ureter and renal pelvis carcinoma in situ and prostate cancer. We believe this to be the first case of such a combination of synchronous urinary tract tumors. When treating urological cancer patients on hemodialysis, one should be aware of a possible combination of multiple synchronous urinary tract tumors.

Prostatic stromal tumor of uncertain malignant potential (STUMP) is a rare neoplasm characterized by an atypical, unique stromal proliferation of the prostate. Two patients consulted our hospital with the complaint of urinary retardation. We performed holmium laser enucleation of the prostate since by digital rectal examination, magnetic resonance imaging and needle biopsy suggested benign prostatic hyperplasia. The pathologic examination of the surgical specimens revealed prostatic STUMP. Urologic and radiologic examinations have revealed no abnormalities after more than 2 years of follow-up.

We report a rare case of sarcoidosis of the ureter in a 65-year-old Japanese man. Left nephroureterectomy and regional lymph node dissection were performed under the clinical diagnosis of transitional cell carcinoma of the left ureter with lymph node metastasis. Microscopically, noncaseous epithelioid granuloma with large Langerhans cells was noted in the ureter and dissected lymph nodes. Pulmonary lesions were not found on computed tomography. Peyronie's disease (PD) is known to be associated with Dupuytren's disease (DD) since 1828. The aim of this study was to investigate the coexistence of DD in a consecutive series of patients with PD and their clinical characteristics. From January 1988 to December 2009 all patients, presenting at our outpatient urological clinic, with PD were also examined for DD. The sample consisted of 415 male subjects with PD, 89 (22.1%) also had DD. A total of 28 men (6.7%) reported to have one or more first or second degree relatives with DD.

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is the most common urologic disorder and one of the most common conditions for which physicians are consulted. Patients at increased risk for UTI include women; diabetics; the immunocompromised; and those with anatomic abnormalities, impaired mobility, incontinence, advanced age, and instrumentation. Metastasic priapism is a rare entity produced by tumor cell implantation or direct infiltration of corpora cavernousum of the penis. In up to 80% of cases the primary tumor has an urological origen like prostate or bladder cancers. Treatment depends on syntomatology and patient's prognosis. Generally, average survival in these patients is poor due to metastasic progression, among 1 to 1 and a half years. We present a case report of secondary priapism for direct bladder carcinoma's invasion of the corpora cavernousum. A total penectomy due to a penile infected necrosis was required.

Advances in urogenital plastic surgical tissue transfer techniques have enabled urethral reconstruction surgery to become the new gold-standard for treatment of refractory urethral stricture disease. Questions remain, however, regarding the long-term implications on sexual function after major genital reconstructive surgery. In this article, we review the pathologic features of urethral stricture disease and urologic trauma that may affect erectile function (EF) and assess the impact of various specific contemporary urethroplasty surgical techniques on male sexual function.

Paraphimosis is a urologic emergency that occurs in uncircumcised boys. In untreated paraphimosis, increasing edema caused by vascular and lymphatic obstruction results in ominous sequelae such as penile gangrene, which leads to autoamputation in days or weeks. Prostatitis is a common disease, but rarely caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. We present a case where a Danish man was referred to our outpatient clinic with lower urinary tract symptoms. Prostate biopsies revealed granulomatous prostatitis with caseous necroses and acid-fast bacilli. Urine and sputum were culture positive of M. tuberculosis and treatment was initiated. Tuberculosis is still an important diagnosis and should be remembered in urologic investigations. Extra pulmonary symptoms may be the initial presentation and lack of awareness could lead to increased spread.

Sacral agenesis is a rare congenital abnormality of the lower vertebral column which is frequently associated with neurological, orthopedic as well as urological malformations. With regard to the incidence of the anomaly, although approximately 200 cases have been reported previously, the occurrence of sacral agenesis in siblings has only rarely been found. To date only two pairs of siblings have been reported. Herein we present 2 siblings with partial sacral agenesis and emphasize the need for a careful family investigation, early diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Over a 6-year period in the surgical departments of Cotonou hospital, urethral diseases in children represented 20% of all infantile urological diseases and essentially consisted of urethral strictures (26 cases), hypospadias (22 cases), posterior urethral valves (12 cases), prolapsed urethral mucosa, the only disease observed in girls (9 cases). These diseases generally do not raise any diagnostic problems, but the real problem concerns follow-up of these children, who are usually lost to follow-up after discharge.

We evaluated the role of conservative treatment for urethritis and its complications after simultaneous pancreas-kidney (SPK) transplant. Twenty-six type I diabetic recipients with end-stage renal disease underwent SPK transplants with bladder exocrine drainage. Urethritis/ dysuria occurred in 4/26 (16%) of the patients. All cases resolved with conservative treatment that included Foley catheter and/or suprapubic cystostomy. Despite the frequency of this urological complication, none of the patients needed diversion of the exocrine drainage from the bladder to the intestine.
