Self-Cleaning Antibacterial Composite Coating of Fluorinated Acrylic Resin and Ag/SiO2 Nanoparticles with Quaternary Ammonium.

With improvements in living standards, the demand for antibacterial self-cleaning coatings has significantly increased. In this work, self-cleaning coatings with antibacterial properties were fabricated by spray-coating a composite of fluorinated acrylic resin and Ag/SiO2 nanoparticles with quaternary ammonium salts. The synergistic action of the quaternary ammonium salts and silver nanostructures caused the coating to show a dual antibacterial effect. The Ag/SiO2 nanoparticles roughened the coating's surface and, in combination with the fluorinated chains, provided the surface a superhydropho

Evaluation of the Antimicrobial Effect of Silver Nanoparticles Incorporated Into Heat-Cured Acrylic Denture Base Resin: A Clinical Study.

INTRODUCTION: Denture-associated candidal stomatitis is one of the most common inflammatory conditions affecting complete denture wearers and is primarily associated with Candida albicans colonization of the denture base. Conventional antifungal therapies are often associated with recurrent infections and patient non-compliance. The incorporation of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) into polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) denture base resin has emerged as a promising approach to provide sustained antimicrobial activity and reduce fungal biofilm formation. This study aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial

The effect of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticle concentration on the adhesion of mucin and Streptococcus mutans to heat-cured acrylic resin.

Incorporating zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles as antibacterial fillers in heat-cured acrylic resin could decrease mucin and Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) adhesion, reducing the incidence of dental caries in the baseplates of orthodontic patients. Here, ZnO nanoparticles were modified using 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate with various concentrations, added to acrylic resin powder, homogenized, mixed with acrylic resin liquid, and processed. The composite systems interfered well with mucin and S. mutans adhesion. The lowest mean of the amount of mucin adhered was on heat-cured acrylic r

Fabrication of High-Performance Asphalt Mixture Using Waterborne Epoxy-Acrylate Resin Modified Emulsified Asphalt (WEREA).

Existing research shows that using waterborne epoxy resin (WER) instead of emulsified asphalt as the binder for cold mix asphalt (CMA) can enhance the rutting resistance, high-temperature performance, fracture performance, and early performance of CMA. In order to eliminate the potential drawbacks such as insufficient strength and low-temperature performance of CMA during application, a novel method was proposed in this study for the preparation of waterborne epoxy-acrylate resin (WER), specifically tailored to modify emulsified asphalt, resulting in waterborne epoxy-acrylate resin emulsified

Acrylic acid functionalized silica composite resin for selective recovery of Ru from simulated high-level liquid waste.

The selective and efficient separation of ruthenium from high-level liquid waste (HLLW) will not only benefit the resource shortage of Ru, a member of platinum group metal, but also advancing the nuclear fuel cycle. However, the separation and recovery of Ru(III) from HLLW faces challenges due to its complex speciation in nitric acid, intense radioactivity, complex competing ions of HLLW. Herein, an acrylic acid functionalized silica composite resin (AA/SiO2) was synthesized via in-situ polymerization for selective adsorption of Ru(III) from simulated HLLW. AA/SiO2 achieved a maximum adsorptio
