Artificial intelligence in musculoskeletal conditions.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is an iterative process by which information is captured, transformed into knowledge and processed to produce adaptive changes in the environment. AI is a broad concept, involving virtual (computing) and physical (robotics) elements. In this narrative literature review, we focus on the aspects of AI that present major opportunities for developing health care. Within a few years, AI will be part of our daily clinical practice. Although significant advances are being made, the application of AI in musculoskeletal medicine is still in its early stages compared with it

Ideal Facial Proportions in Generative Artificial Intelligence: What Does Artificial Intelligence Consider an Attractive Face?

BACKGROUND: To investigate the facial proportions and physical characteristics deemed ideal and attractive by current popular generative artificial intelligence (AI) models. METHODS: "Attractive" and "ideal" face images were generated using five text-to-image models. Facial proportions of the generated images were measured and compared with the neoclassical canons of facial thirds and fifths. Generated facial proportions were compared between AI models and classical facial proportions using analysis of variance and unpaired Student's t-test, respectively. RESULTS: The generated images includ

Does Artificial Intelligence Make Dermatologists Less Intelligent?

Artificial intelligence is transforming dermatology, but may introduce risks of cognitive offloading and automation bias. Excessive reliance on AI could weaken independent clinical reasoning, particularly among trainees. Rather than replacing physician judgment, AI should function as a cognitive partner. Responsible integration and AI literacy can enhance dermatologists' efficiency, knowledge, and decision-making.

Blepharoplasty in the Artificial Intelligence Era.

Blepharoplasty and related periorbital procedures sit at the interface of functional reconstruction, esthetic surgery, ophthalmology, facial plastic surgery, and oral and maxillofacial surgery. Because eyelid and periorbital changes can be captured in photographs, videos, and 3-dimensional imaging, artificial intelligence has growing relevance for objective measurement, screening, planning, outcome assessment, and patient education. Current evidence is promising but heterogeneous. Image-based computer vision and deep learning appear closest to clinical use, whereas large language and generativ

[Artificial intelligence in the management of stroke].

The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) has generated considerable expectations for improving stroke management. In this work, we present current AI applications for stroke prevention, triage, and treatment selection during the acute phase. We then discuss the potential value of AI in predicting neurological recovery. Currently, only the detection of atrial fibrillation and the identification of large-vessel occlusions on brain imaging have been validated. Nevertheless, recent advances are opening up new perspectives for using AI algorithms in stroke care.

Artificial intelligence and deskilling in medicine.

Artificial intelligence is increasingly being used in medical practice to complete tasks that were previously completed by the physician, such as visit documentation, treatment plans and discharge summaries. As artificial intelligence becomes a routine part of medical care, physicians increasingly trust and rely on its clinical recommendations. However, there is concern that some physicians, especially those younger and less experienced, will become over-reliant on artificial intelligence. Over-reliance on it may reduce the quality of clinical reasoning and decision-making, negatively impact p

Progress in medicine and artificial intelligence.

This essay questions, with regard to medicine, the idea of progress as technological development by focusing on people rather than things. It analyzes how the predominance of such an idea of progress converts today's societies to techno-fetishism that degrades community life and medical practice, contributing to the medicalization of social life. It is argued that the realization of technological potentialities depends on their forms of use; that the main motive of technological development is unlimited profit and that priority developments are those that enhance the social control that mainta
