A statistical estimation of fractional order cryptosporidiosis epidemic model.

In this study, a statistical estimation is done for an epidemic model of cryptosporidiosis by changing it into a fractional order system. The disease-free equilibrium point, and the endemic equilibrium point are the two equilibrium points and Jacobian matrix theory is used to determine stability. The basic reproductive number [Formula: see text] is calculated and examined for its role in disease dynamics and stability analysis. The numerical technique named Grunwald Letnikov non-standard finite difference (GL-NSFD) scheme is designed for solving the fractional epidemic model. To investigate th

Investigation and application of a classical piecewise hybrid with a fractional derivative for the epidemic model: Dynamical transmission and modeling.

In this research, we developed an epidemic model with a combination of Atangana-Baleanu Caputo derivative and classical operators for the hybrid operator's memory effects, allowing us to observe the dynamics and treatment effects at different time phases of syphilis infection caused by sex. The developed model properties, which take into account linear growth and Lipschitz requirements relating the rate of effects within its many sub-compartments according to the equilibrium points, include positivity, unique solution, exitance, and boundedness in the feasible domain. Mathematical epidemiological modeling and analysis of monkeypox dynamism with non-pharmaceutical intervention using real data from United Kingdom.

In this study, a mathematical model for studying the dynamics of monkeypox virus transmission with non-pharmaceutical intervention is created, examined, and simulated using real-time data. Positiveness, invariance, and boundedness of the solutions are thus examined as fundamental features of mathematical models. The equilibrium points and the prerequisites for their stability are achieved. The basic reproduction number and thus the virus transmission coefficient ℜ0 were determined and quantitatively used to study the global stability of the model's steady state. Furthermore, this study conside

Edge-based compartmental modeling for the spread of cholera on random networks: A case study in Somalia.

Cholera remains a major public health problem that threatens human health worldwide and its severity is continuing. In this paper, an edge-based model for cholera transmission on random networks is proposed and investigated. The model assumes that two communities share a common water source and includes three transmission routes, namely intra- and inter-community human-to-human transmission as well as water-to-human transmission. Intra-community human-to-human contacts are modeled through a random contact network, while both inter-community and water-to-human transmission are modeled through e

Cross immunity protection and antibody-dependent enhancement in a distributed delay dynamic model.

Dengue fever is endemic in tropical and subtropical countries, and certain important features of the spread of dengue fever continue to pose challenges for mathematical modelling. Here we propose a system of integro-differential equations (IDE) to study the disease transmission dynamics that involve multi-serotypes and cross immunity. Our main objective is to incorporate and analyze the effect of a general time delay term describing acquired cross immunity protection and the effect of antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE), both characteristics of Dengue fever. We perform qualitative analysis of

Optimal Control Strategies and Sensitivity Analysis of an HIV/AIDS-Resistant Model with Behavior Change.

Despite several research on HIV/AIDS, it is still incumbent to investigate more effective control measures to mitigate its infection level. Therefore, we introduce an HIV/AIDS-resistant model with behavior change and study its basic properties. In order to determine the most sensitive parameters that are responsible for disease transmission with respect to the basic reproduction number and those responsible for disease prevalence with respect to the endemic equilibrium, the sensitivity analysis was established and it was confirmed that the influx rate of people into the infected population and

Threshold dynamics of a nonlocal and delayed cholera model in a spatially heterogeneous environment.

A nonlocal and delayed cholera model with two transmission mechanisms in a spatially heterogeneous environment is derived. We introduce two basic reproduction numbers, one is for the bacterium in the environment and the other is for the cholera disease in the host population. If the basic reproduction number for the cholera bacterium in the environment is strictly less than one and the basic reproduction number of infection is no more than one, we prove globally asymptotically stability of the infection-free steady state. Otherwise, the infection will persist and there exists at least one ende

Spreading dynamic of acute and carrier hepatitis B with nonlinear incidence.

Hepatitis B infection caused by the hepatitis B virus. It is one of the serious viral infection and a global health problem. In the transmission of hepatitis B infection different phases, i.e., acute and chronic carrier stages play an important role. The chronic carries individuals do not exhibit any symptoms and are able to transmit the infection. Here we assessed the transmissibility associated with different infection stages of hepatitis B and generated an epidemic model with nonlinear incidence rate. In order to do this, first we formulate the model by splitting the infectious class into t

Global stability and uniform persistence of the reaction-convection-diffusion cholera epidemic model.

We study the global stability issue of the reaction-convection-diffusion cholera epidemic PDE model and show that the basic reproduction number serves as a threshold parameter that predicts whether cholera will persist or become globally extinct. Specifically, when the basic reproduction number is beneath one, we show that the disease-free-equilibrium is globally attractive. On the other hand, when the basic reproduction number exceeds one, if the infectious hosts or the concentration of bacteria in the contaminated water are not initially identically zero, we prove the uniform persistence res

Analyzing transmission dynamics of cholera with public health interventions.

Cholera continues to be a serious public health concern in developing countries and the global increase in the number of reported outbreaks suggests that activities to control the diseases and surveillance programs to identify or predict the occurrence of the next outbreaks are not adequate. These outbreaks have increased in frequency, severity, duration and endemicity in recent years. Mathematical models for infectious diseases play a critical role in predicting and understanding disease mechanisms, and have long provided basic insights in the possible ways to control infectious diseases. Modelling cholera in periodic environments.

We propose a deterministic compartmental model for cholera dynamics in periodic environments. The model incorporates seasonal variation into a general formulation for the incidence (or, force of infection) and the pathogen concentration. The basic reproduction number of the periodic model is derived, based on which a careful analysis is conducted on the epidemic and endemic dynamics of cholera. Several specific examples are presented to demonstrate this general model, and numerical simulation results are used to validate the analytical prediction.

A stochastic fractional model for computer virus propagation with memory effects and exponential delay.

A computer virus is a type of malware that, upon execution, can replicate itself by modifying other computer programs and inserting its code into them. This study develops a stochastic fractional-order delay differential equation model (SFDDE) to describe computer-virus dynamics by partitioning the system into uninfected S(t), latent infected L(t), and actively seizing V(t) computer populations. The model establishes the well-posedness of solutions, including existence, uniqueness, positivity, and boundedness, and identifies two equilibria: the computer-virus-free equilibrium (CV-FE) and the c

Genuine and spurious bistability in a simple epidemic model with waning immunity.

We study an infection-age structured epidemic model in which both the infectivity and the rate of loss of immunity depend on the time-since-infection. The model can be equivalently viewed as a nonlinear renewal equation for the incidence of infection or as a partial differential equation for the density of infected individuals. We explicitly consider gamma, rather than Erlang, distributed durations of infection using a combination of ODE approximations and numerical bifurcation methods. We show that the shape of this distribution strongly influences stability of the endemic equilibrium, even w

Dynamic properties of Kermack-McKendrick-like models.

We rigorously analyze the dynamic properties of Kermack-McKendrick-like compartmental models for infectious diseases, extending the classical SIR framework to include exposed individuals, mild and severe infections, hospitalization, and intensive care unit (ICU) compartments. Using a 13-compartment model, we establish mathematical results on well-posedness, the basic reproduction number R0, a first integral leading to a unique final epidemic size, and the global stability of the disease-free equilibrium under permanent immunity. When temporary immunity is included, we prove the existence of an

Analyzing optimal control techniques in a nonlinear fractional Rubella model with the Atangana-Baleanu derivative.

Rubella outbreaks have posed serious health, social, and economic challenges worldwide, straining public health systems and economies. Effective understanding and control of the disease remain crucial to prevent its spread, reduce its impact, and support global eradication efforts. This study presents a nonlinear Rubella model using the Atangana-Baleanu derivative in Caputo framework (ABC) to account for memory and hereditary effects in disease dynamics. We explore various transmission modes, identify key risk factors, and examine the long-term effects associated with the disease through this

Modelling the impact of human behavior using a two-layer Watts-Strogatz network for transmission and control of Mpox.

PURPOSE: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of mitigation strategies and analyze the impact of human behavior on the transmission of Mpox. The results can provide guidance to public health authorities on comprehensive prevention and control for the new Mpox virus strain in the Democratic Republic of Congo as of December 2023. METHODS: We develop a two-layer Watts-Strogatz network model. The basic reproduction number is calculated using the next-generation matrix approach. Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) optimization algorithm is used to fit Mpox cases in Canada into the network mod

Mumps epidemic dynamics in the United States before vaccination (1923-1932).

Mumps is a vaccine-preventable, reemerging, and highly transmissible infectious disease. Widespread vaccination dramatically reduced cases; however, case counts have been increasing over the past 20 years. To provide a quantitative overview of historical mumps dynamics that can act as baseline information to help identify causes of mumps reemergence, we analyzed timeseries of cases reported from 1923 to 1932 in the United States. During that time, 239,230 mumps cases were reported in 70 cities. Larger cities reported annual epidemics and smaller cities reported intermittent, sporadic outbreaks

Estimates of Serial Interval and Reproduction Number of Sudan Virus, Uganda, August-November 2022.

We estimated the mean serial interval for Sudan virus in Uganda to be 11.7 days (95 CI% 8.2-15.8 days). Estimates for the 2022 outbreak indicate a mean basic reproduction number of 2.4-2.7 (95% CI 1.7-3.5). Estimated net reproduction numbers across districts suggest a marked spatial heterogeneity.

Analysis of a non-integer order mathematical model for double strains of dengue and COVID-19 co-circulation using an efficient finite-difference method.

An efficient finite difference approach is adopted to analyze the solution of a novel fractional-order mathematical model to control the co-circulation of double strains of dengue and COVID-19. The model is primarily built on a non-integer Caputo fractional derivative. The famous fixed-point theorem developed by Banach is employed to ensure that the solution of the formulated model exists and is ultimately unique. The model is examined for stability around the infection-free equilibrium point analysis, and it was observed that it is stable (asymptotically) when the maximum reproduction number

An Epidemic Model with Pro and Anti-vaccine Groups.

Here, an epidemiological model considering pro and anti-vaccination groups is proposed and analyzed. In this model, susceptible individuals can migrate between these two groups due to the influence of false and true news about safety and efficacy of vaccines. From this model, written as a set of three ordinary differential equations, analytical expressions for the disease-free steady state, the endemic steady state, and the basic reproduction number are derived. It is analytically shown that low vaccination rate and no influx to the pro-vaccination group have similar impacts on the long-term a
