Worldwide research trends on femur head necrosis (2000-2021): a bibliometrics analysis and suggestions for researchers.

BACKGROUND: Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is a common and stubborn disease. The main causes are venous stasis of the femoral head, arterial blood supply damage, bone cell and bone marrow death, and bone tissue necrosis and subsequent repair obstacles. Over the past 22 years, the number of papers on ONFH has, overall, continued to increase. METHODS: Using bibliometrics, we investigated the trends, frontiers, and hotspots of global scientific output in the past 22 years. We searched Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) of the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) and retrieved inf

Bibliometrics and visualization analysis of literature on male hypogonadism from 2000 to 2023: research focus and frontiers.

Male hypogonadism can seriously affect male health and fertility, yet comprehensive bibliometric and visualization analyses of research in this area have been lacking. This study aimed to examine the distribution of literature, identify research hotspots, and discern development trends in male hypogonadism by analyzing 4026 English documents published between 2000 and 2023 using bibliometric and visual analyses. The results indicated a significant increase in publications and citations related to male hypogonadism over the past two decades, with the United States, the University of Florence, M

Global trends in research on irritable bowel syndrome and the brain-gut axis: Bibliometrics and visualization analysis.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a gastrointestinal disorder with no structural damage, and its pathogenesis remains unclear. Studies have shown that the brain-gut axis is closely related to the occurrence of IBS. However, studies of IBS related to the brain-gut axis have not been systematically analyzed by bibliometrics and visual analysis. This study is based on 631 publications in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) to analyze hot spots and trends in this field. The collaborations between different authors, institutions, countries, and keywords were bibliometrically analyzed by Cite

Job rotation: A bibliometric analysis.

BACKGROUND: Job rotation is a strategic practice aimed at improving employees' health, satisfaction, and overall productivity in organizations. Its ergonomic aspects are crucial because they help balance workload, reduce ergonomic risks, and support an aging workforce. OBJECTIVE: This study addresses the lack of a field-level synthesis of job rotation research by conducting a bibliometric analysis of publications from 1994 through 2025, with particular attention to ergonomic themes, trends, and relationships in the literature. METHODS: A bibliometric analysis was conducted using 820 records

Bibliometric network analysis of glaucoma.

Elevated intraocular pressure is recognized as the principal risk factor for development of optic nerve head (ONH) injury. Lamina cribrosa (LC) cells and astrocytes are two types of cells in the ONH. We attempted to identify more target genes and predict their underlying molecular mechanisms. In this study, we performed meta-analysis of the data from two microarray sets containing samples from LC cells and astrocytes each. Our analysis indicated that 47 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) had been identified, and 24 of them were used to construct a bibliometric network with other related gen

A bibliometric analysis of apoptosis in glaucoma.

BACKGROUND: Glaucoma is the first irreversible and second blindness disease, which is characterized by the death of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) and degeneration of the optic nerve. Previous works have indicated that apoptosis is the main reason for RGC death in glaucoma. Although many studies have investigated the mechanism of apoptosis and different strategies targeting apoptosis to protect the RGCs and finally recover the impaired vision in the glaucoma. However, the global trend and hotspots of apoptosis in glaucoma have not been well illustrated and discussed. METHODS: Documents were ex

Green Jobs: Bibliometric Review.

Among the visible effects as Sustainable Development (SD) transitions from theory into practice, there are Green Jobs (GJs). There are multiple variants in naming this phenomenon in the labor market. Among them are green collars, green employment, and sustainable employment, all indicating a profound inconsistency in the GJ definition. This article aims to identify keyword-specified areas around which the topic of GJs revolves in the scientific literature indexed in the Scopus database. The usage of two methods has achieved this goal. First is the Structured Literature Review (SLR) variation w

Bibliometric analysis of pediatric glaucoma.

PURPOSE: The research activity in pediatric glaucoma (PG) was qualitatively and quantitatively evaluated using a scientometric approach. METHODS: The "Web of Science" database was accessed for primary bibliometric data regarding PG using search terms "pediatric glaucoma," "paediatric glaucoma," "congenital glaucoma," and "childhood glaucoma." The data was analyzed for total research productivity, citations, and scientific output in terms of journals, countries, institutions, and authors. The results were further characterized for coauthorship links and visualized by VOS viewer software. Also,

A Bibliometric Analysis of Opioid in Malaysia.

Opioid analgesics have been widely used for the treatment of pain. In USA, it was reported an increase in opioid prescribing is parallel with the increase of opioid use disorders such as misuse, abuse, and opioids overdose-related death. Little is known about the opioid situation and its related research in Malaysia. Therefore, this bibliometric study provided an overview on the productivity of opioid research in Malaysia. All published articles on opioid research in Malaysia from 2006 to 2018 were included, where they were retrieved from online databases. Then, the data were analysed, present

A bibliometric review of drug repurposing.

We have conducted a bibliometric review of drug repurposing by scanning >25 million papers in PubMed and using text-mining methods to gather, count and analyze chemical-disease therapeutic relationships. We find that >60% of the ∼35,000 drugs or drug candidates identified in our study have been tried in more than one disease, including 189 drugs that have been tried in >300 diseases each. Whereas in the majority of cases these drugs were applied in therapeutic areas close to their original use, there have been striking, and perhaps instructive, successful attempts of drug repurposing for unexp

Unravelling the Mechanisms of Tea Against NAFLD: An Integration of Bibliometrics, Network Pharmacology, and the Gut-Liver Axis.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) represents a significant global health challenge with limited therapeutic options. Tea consumption has emerged as a promising preventive and therapeutic strategy, yet a systematic and integrative understanding of its mechanisms is lacking. This review employs a novel tripartite approach-combining bibliometric analysis, network pharmacology, and an in-depth literature review-to comprehensively elucidate the multi-faceted role of tea in combating NAFLD. The bibliometric analysis identifies 'inflammation,' 'steatosis,' 'insulin resistance,' and 'gut micro

Global research trends and hotspots of rheumatoid arthritis and mitogen-activated protein kinase-a bibliometrics and visualization analysis.

BACKGROUND: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common autoimmune disease characterized by synovial hyperplasia and bone erosion, which ultimately leads to joint deformity and disability. The mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway is one of the critical pathways in eukaryotic cells involved in regulating cell mitosis, differentiation, and apoptosis, as well as inflammation and stress responses, and is closely related to the development of RA. Intra-articular cytokines in patients with RA can bind to the corresponding receptors and activate intracellular upstream modulators, which
