Arm lymphedema develops in 10%-35% of patients who undergo axillary dissection and/or nodal radiation therapy for breast cancer. Lymphedema that occurs in the first 18 months after surgery or radiation is described as acute lymphedema, and can be managed with conservative measures such as elevation of the arm and mild compression. Chronic lymphedema, the more serious form, has a progressive and generally irreversible course. Risk factors associated with the development of lymphedema include greater extent of axillary surgery; more positive axillary nodes; a postoperative axillary hematoma, ser

To establish and validate a predictive model for breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) among Chinese patients to facilitate individualized risk assessment. We retrospectively analyzed data from breast cancer patients treated at a major single-center breast hospital in China. From 2020 to 2022, we identified risk factors for BCRL through logistic regression and developed and validated a nomogram using R software (version 4.1.2). Model validation was achieved through the application of receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC), a calibration plot, and decision curve analysis (DCA), with fu

The US is facing a growing epidemic of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), with over 2.5 million cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis reported in 2021 and again in 2022. This public health crisis disproportionately affects youth and racial and ethnic minority communities, exacerbating barriers to accessing sexual health services. Untreated STIs can lead to severe health consequences, including infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease, and increased risk of HIV transmission and acquisition. Managed care organizations (MCOs) within Medicaid play a pivotal role in improving sexual heal

Upper limb lymphedema can be an unfortunate sequela following the oncologic treatment of breast cancer. The surgical treatment of lymphedema has had a recent renewed clinical interest paralleling innovative descriptions of surgical techniques and imaging modalities. In addition, an improved understanding of the physiology and pathophysiology of lymphedema has allowed improved translation to the clinical condition. Various surgical options exist to decrease the symptom-burden of upper limb lymphedema, including vascularized lymph node (VLN) transfer, lymphovenous bypass (LVB), liposuction, lymp

Breast cancer-related lymphedema of the upper extremity is the most significant non-oncological complication of tumour therapy, leading to functional impairment and impacting patients' quality of life. Autologous breast reconstruction per se effectively reduces incidence and stage of lymphedema after breast cancer treatment by surgical angiogenesis. In addition, modern surgical techniques for treating lymphedema are effective in reducing limb volume, circumference and functional impairment, and improving patients' quality of life, body image, integrity and local immunocompetence. Advances in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer have significantly improved survival rates. Breast cancer-related lymphedema is the most common mid-and long-term complication after breast cancer surgery, which seriously affects the quality of life. Breast reconstruction can not only restore the shape of the breasts after mastectomy, but also reduce the occurrence of lymphedema to some extent. Immediate autologous breast reconstruction combined with lymphatic venous anastomosis (LVA) or vascularized lymph node transfer (VLNT) can effectively prevent lymphedema. Delayed breast reconstru
