Spindle cell variant of ameloblastic carcinoma (SpCAC) is a rare subtype of ameloblastic carcinoma. Herein, we describe an additional case of SpCAC of the mandible of a 76-year-old Japanese male. Accurate diagnosis of invasive breast lesions, when analyzed by Core Needle Biopsy, may suppose a major challenge for the pathologist. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of testosterone (T) on the phenotypic modulation of corpus cavernosum smooth muscle (CCSM) cells in a castrated rat model.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: control, castration, and castration with T supplementation (castration + T). A case of salivary duct carcinoma arising in the submandibular region of an 83-year-old man is presented. Histologically, the tumour consisted of solid cell nests with ductal structures. Tumour cell nests showed central comedonecrosis. Immunohistochemically, the tumour cells were positive for keratin and epithelial membrane antigen but negative for S-100 protein and calponin. Clinical features as well as pathological examinations based on haematoxylin-eosin and immunohistochemical stainings were important in the diagnosis of this case.

LIM and Calponin Homology Domain 1 (LIMCH1) is a multi-domain protein-coding gene located on human chromosome 4p13. While pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is the most common salivary neoplasm in human medicine, it appears to be rare in animals and has only recently been reported in a rhesus macaque.
