BACKGROUND: Centenarians are an often forgotten and under-reported group. Trauma in this population is a substantial cause of morbidity and mortality. 15 years ago, a small observational study examined the outcomes of trauma in centenarians in a single trauma unit, concluding that age alone should not be a determinant of treatment. Following implementation of national standards of care for trauma patients in older adults, this study re-examined outcomes in centenarians admitted secondary to trauma to assess if outcomes have changed.

Bullous pemphigoid (BP) is one of the most common autoimmune blistering diseases and classically presents as large, tense bullae. We report a case of BP with toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN)-like manifestations in a 103-year-old male, the oldest known patient to present with an acute onset of BP. AIM: To examine the trends in the leading causes of deaths in centenarians in Hong Kong.
METHODS: Descriptive analyses of vital statistics data on mortality in Hong Kong from 2001 to 2010 were carried out.
