Natural diosmin alleviating obesity and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease by regulating the activating the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) pathway.

Obesity and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) are linked to numerous chronic conditions, including cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, chronic kidney disease, and type II diabetes. Previous research identified the natural flavonoid diosmin, derived from Chrysanthemum morifolium, as a regulator of glucose metabolism. However, its effects on lipid metabolism and underlying mechanisms remained unexplored. The AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) pathway serves a critical function in glucose and lipid metabolism. The relationship between diosmin and the AMPK path

Interaction of diosmetin, diosmin and diosmetin-7-O-glucoside with human erythrocytes, their model membrane, hemoglobin and redox-active metal ions.

Diosmin, a flavonoid with documented vascular-protective properties, together with the closely related compounds diosmetin and diosmetin-7-O-glucoside, has not previously been subjected to a systematic comparative biophysical characterization. In this study, we performed an integrated biophysical comparison of these three structurally related flavonoids to delineate how structural differences translate into distinct patterns of metal-ion coordination, membrane interaction and hemoglobin engagement, thereby providing a mechanistic context for their behavior in complex erythrocyte- and simplifie

Prevention of lymphedema after extended pelvic lymphadenectomy using diosmin, bromelain, melilotus, and hesperidin: results from a prospective randomized study (PRELYNE trial).

Extended pelvic lymph node dissection (ePLND) during robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) may impair lymphatic drainage, causing lower-limb and genital lymphedema with a potential negative impact on postoperative recovery and quality of life. This prospective randomized study evaluated whether an oral formulation containing diosmin, bromelain, melilotus, and hesperidin (Meliven Top®) could reduce postoperative lymphatic morbidity after RARP with ePLND. One hundred patients undergoing RARP with ePLND for prostate cancer were randomized 1:1 to standard postoperative care alone or standard

Neuroprotective effect of diosmin against chlorpyrifos-induced brain intoxication was mediated by regulating PPAR-γ and NF-κB/AP-1 signals.

Chlorpyrifos (CPF) is a widely used organophosphate (OP) pesticide. Unfortunately, pesticides are known to cause neuronal intoxication. Diosmin (DS) is an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective flavonoid with high efficacy and safety. We plan to investigate the efficacy of DS in treating CPF-induced neurotoxicity, as well as the mechanisms underlying the protective effects. In our study, rats were randomized into 5 groups: control, DS (50 mg/kg), CPF (10 mg/kg), CPF + DS (25 mg/kg), and CPF + DS (50 mg/kg). The results indicated that DS ameliorated neuronal intoxication induced by

Evaluation of Diabetes Effects of Selenium Nanoparticles Synthesized from a Mixture of Luteolin and Diosmin on Streptozotocin-Induced Type 2 Diabetes in Mice.

The absence of a treatment efficient in the control of type 2 diabetes mellitus requires more functional products to assist treatment. Luteolin (LU) and diosmin (DIO) have been known as bioactive molecules with potential for the treatment of diabetes. This work aimed to establish the role that a combination of LU and DIO in selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) played in streptozotocin (STZ)- induced diabetes mice. Green synthesis of Se NPs was performed by mixing luteolin and diosmin with the solution of Na2SeO3 under continuous stirring conditions resulting in the flavonoids conjugated with SeNPs.

Diosmin attenuates radiation-induced hepatic fibrosis by boosting PPAR-γ expression and hampering miR-17-5p-activated canonical Wnt-β-catenin signaling.

BACKGROUND: Liver fibrosis is one of the major complications from upper right quadrant radiotherapy. MicroRNA-17-5p (miR-17-5p) is hypothesized to act as a regulator of hepatic stellate cell (HSCs) activation by activation of the canonical Wnt-β-catenin pathway. Diosmin (Dios), a citrus bioflavonoid, is known to possess potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic properties. PURPOSE: To explore the molecular mechanisms that underlie radiation-induced liver fibrosis, and to evaluate the possible influence of Dios on the miR-17-5p-Wnt-β-catenin signaling axis during fibrogenesis p
