Food allergies have become a significant medical and legal concern for children worldwide, as there is a rising incidence of potentially fatal hypersensitivity reactions. The most common foods implicated include cow milk, wheat, egg, soy, peanut, tree nuts such as walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, cashews, pecans, and pistachios, fish and shellfish. The majority of food allergies represent an IgE-mediated hypersensitivity reaction to specific proteins found in foods. Peanut allergy, in particular, is a significant food allergy responsible for the majority of patients with food-induced anaphylaxis.

Children with milk allergy have higher incidence of other food allergies, especially egg allergy. The objective of this study was to ascertain the accuracy of the prick test in children with IgE-mediated milk allergy for diagnosing egg allergy. Children under the age of 1 yr who came consecutively to Allergy Department 2003-05, and were diagnosed with IgE-mediated milk allergy were selected for this study. Egg introduction was completely avoided until the age of 14 months when clinical history, skin prick tests (SPT), specific-IgE antibodies determination and egg challenge test were performed.

OBJECTIVES: Introducing baked cow's milk and egg proteins to children with severe immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated food allergies is controversial. This case series aimed to evaluate the safety and efficiency of the 5-step milk ladder (5-ML) and the 4-step egg ladder (4-EL) in a group of "high risk" children with IgE-mediated cow's milk (CMA) and hen's egg (HEA) allergies in the real-life settings.

Mansoni infection was followed in mice by studying schistosome egg granulomatous inflammation, antigen and immunoglobulins deposits in the granulomata and the circulating antibodies.
