Hypersomnia spectrum disorders are underdiagnosed and poorly treated due to their heterogeneity and absence of biomarkers. The electroretinography has been proposed as a proxy of central dysfunction and has proved to be valuable to differentiate certain psychiatric disorders. PURPOSE: To report a case of cilioretinal artery occlusion with normal fluorescein angiography findings that was evaluated by electroretinography (ERG) and microperimetry.

PURPOSE: Usher's syndrome (US) is a group of genetically distinct autosomal conditions, characterized by sensorineural hearing loss accompanied by a retinal dystrophy indistinguishable from retinitis pigmentosa (RP). The purpose of this study was to analyze full-field electroretinography (ERG) and visual acuity (VA) among patients with type I and II Usher's syndrome.
METHODS: Electroretinography responses and visual acuity were studied in 22 patients (mean age at test = 26.8+/-16.8 years). Seventeen patients had SU type I and 5 patients were diagnosed as Usher's syndrome type II.

The pattern electroretinogram (PERG) provides an objective measure of central retinal function, and has become an important element of the author's clinical visual electrophysiological practice. Dystrophin is present in various tissues other than skeletal and cardiac muscles, including the central nervous system (CNS) and the outer plexiform layer of the retina.
