[Low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy improves symptoms of erectile dysfunction: A preliminary study].

OBJECTIVE: To verify the effect and safety of low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy (Li-ESWT) in improving the symptoms of ED, and provide some reference for further related large-scale clinical trials. METHODS: Twenty-six patients diagnosed with ED received Li-ESWT with an energy of 0.09 mJ/mm2 for 20 minutes once a week for 6 four-week courses. Before and at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months after treatment, we obtained the IIEF-5 and Erectile Hardness Scale (EHS) scores of the patients using questionnaires, recorded the incidence of treatment-related adverse reactions, compared the erectile

Short- and Intermediate-Term Results of Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy for Noninsertional Achilles Tendinopathy.

BACKGROUND: Earlier randomized controlled trials (RCTs) reported only midterm (3-4 months) results of extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) as a treatment for noninsertional Achilles tendinopathy (NAT). This study compared the effectiveness of an eccentric loading program followed by stretching exercises combined with ESWT (study group) or sham ESWT (control group) for treating chronic NAT in both the short and long term. METHODS: This double-blind RCT was conducted between 2018 and 2020. Adult patients with unilateral NAT who failed standard conservative treatment were randomly allocated t

In Situ Activation of Penile Progenitor Cells With Low-Intensity Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy.

BACKGROUND: We previously reported that progenitor cells, or stem cells, exist within penile tissue. We hypothesized that acoustic wave stimulation by low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy (Li-ESWT) would activate local stem or progenitor cells within the penis, producing regenerative effects. AIMS: To study the feasibility of in situ penile progenitor cell activation by Li-ESWT. METHODS: We performed a cohort analysis of young and middle-age male Sprague-Dawley rats treated with 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU) pulse followed by Li-ESWT. In addition, Li-ESWT was applied to cultured

Focused extracorporeal shockwave therapy for the treatment of low back pain: a systematic review.

INTRODUCTION: Low back pain (LBP) is a common condition affecting up to 84% of people in their lifetime, with a prevalence of 11.9% and a high recurrence rate within the first year. Furthermore, chronic low back pain syndrome has been described in up to 7%, making it a significant health and socioeconomic problem. Among nonoperative treatment options, the recently used focused extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) devices generate waves that converge at a precise depth in the body, thereby revealing the potential to affect pathology remotely from the contact surface. The article aims to pres

Low intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy for erectile dysfunction: a study in an Indian population.

INTRODUCTION: Erectile dysfunction (ED) has been shown to be associated with a number of physical conditions and affects not only physical but also psychosocial health. Currently oral, on-demand phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5i) are preferred first line treatment. Though effective, these drugs have limitations and are associated with significant non-compliance, side effects and do not reverse the underlying pathology. Non-invasive low intensity shockwave therapy (LISWT) has been shown to significantly improve erectile function in men previously PDE5i dependent. We describe our experi

Extracorporeal shockwaves therapy for finger stenosing tenosynovitis: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Stenosing tenosynovitis is a common chronic tendon disease that seriously affects daily life and working ability. However, its treatment is very challenging and requires more effective treatment methods. A large number of clinical studies have shown that extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) may relieve the symptoms of stenosing tenosynovitis, but there are no published reviews or meta-analyses specifically and comprehensively evaluating its efficacy for this disease. Therefore, through conducting a meta-analysis, this study systematically evaluated the therapeutic effect of ESW
