Pilot Test of the Relationship and Financial Education TOGETHER Program for LGBTQ+ People in Relationships.

Financial stress negatively impacts health and relationships and relationship stress undermines financial management. LGBTQ+ individuals face additional stress from discrimination, yet no known programs address both relationship and financial stress for LGBTQ+ people. We pilot-tested the adaptation of TOGETHER, an evidence-based relationship and financial education program, for LGBTQ+ people in relationships by assessing its acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility using mixed methods. We collected quantitative data on program satisfaction and usefulness through surveys completed anonym

Perspectives on improving blood pressure control to reduce the clinical and economic burden of hypertension.

The clinical and economic burden of hypertension is high and continues to increase globally. Uncontrolled hypertension has severe but avoidable long-term consequences, including cardiovascular diseases, which are among the most burdensome and most preventable conditions in Europe. Yet, despite clear guidelines on screening, diagnosis and management of hypertension, a large proportion of patients remain undiagnosed or undertreated. Low adherence and persistence are common, exacerbating the issue of poor blood pressure (BP) control. Although current guidelines provide clear direction, implementa

Economic burden and financial vulnerability of injuries among the elderly in Vietnam.

Falls are a leading cause of death among elderly people. However, research on the cost of fall-related injuries is limited in Vietnam. We estimated treatment costs and associated factors among 405 elderly patients in Thai Binh hospitals. Costs were estimated through self-reported data on medical and non-medical expenses. Logistic regression and GLM were used to identify payment and affordability factors. Inpatient and outpatient care costs for fall-related injuries were US$98.06 and US$8.53, respectively. 11.85% of participants couldn't pay for treatment. Payment ability and cost decline were

Financial toxicity and skin cancer care in the US: population-based survey from 2011 to 2018.

This cross-sectional study aimed to examine financial toxicity among people with skin cancer using pooled National Health Interview Survey data from adults in 2011-2018. Material, behavioral, and psychological markers of financial toxicity were compared by lifetime skin cancer history (any melanoma, any skin cancer beside melanoma, and no skin cancer) using multivariable logistic regression models. Of 257,652 total participants, 1874 (0.73%) had known melanoma and 7073 (2.75%) had any skin cancer beside melanoma. History of skin cancers was not independently associated with increased markers o

Differential humanistic and economic burden of mild, moderate and severe haemophilia in european adults: a regression analysis of the CHESS II study.

BACKGROUND: The lifelong nature of haemophilia makes patient-centred and societal assessments of its impact important to clinical and policy decisions. Quantifying the humanistic and economic burden by severity is key to assessing the impact on healthcare systems. We analysed the annual direct medical (excluding factor replacement therapy costs) and non-medical costs as well as societal costs and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of mild, moderate and severe disease among adults with haemophilia A or B without inhibitors in Europe. Participants in the CHESS II study reported their HRQoL,

Out-of-pocket expenditure on childhood infections and its financial burden on Indian households: Evidence from nationally representative household survey (2017-18).

The key objective of this research was to estimate out of pocket expenditure (OOPE) incurred by the Indian households for the treatment of childhood infections. We estimated OOPE estimates on outpatient care and hospitalization by disease conditions and type of health facilities. In addition, we also estimated OOPE as a share of households' total consumption expenditure (TCE) by MPCE quintile groups to assess the quantum of the financial burden on the households. We analyzed the Social Consumption: Health (SCH) data from National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO) 75th round (2017-18). Outcome

Financial burden of tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment for patients in Ethiopia: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Despite the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis (TB) given free of charge in many high-burden countries, the costs that patients face in the cascade of care remain a major concern. Here, we aimed to investigate the financial burden of TB diagnosis and treatment for people with TB in Ethiopia. METHOD: For this systematic review and meta-analysis, we searched PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, and Cochrane Center for Clinical Trials from December 1 2022 to 31 June 2023 for articles reporting the cost of diagnosis and treatment for patients regardless of their age with all forms of TB in Et

Financial toxicity among individuals with spina bifida and their families: A qualitative study and conceptual model.

INTRODUCTION: Spina bifida is the most common permanently disabling birth defect in the United States and requires lifelong, multi-specialty care. The cost of such care has the potential to result in financial toxicity - the 'objective financial burden' and 'subjective financial distress' which can negatively impact clinical outcomes. While this concept has been extensively studied in other areas of medicine, particularly oncology, financial toxicity has not yet been examined in pediatric urology or in individuals with spina bifida and their families/caregivers. OBJECTIVE: To qualitatively ex

Related Factors and Economic Burden Evaluation of Nosocomial Infection in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

Kidney disease in China has the characteristics of "three highs and one low", namely high incidence, high disability rate, high treatment cost and low awareness. The main outcome is a progressive deterioration of renal function that is not easily corrected, and patients are often hospitalized repeatedly due to factors such as infection, fatigue, lack of medication, water and electrolyte imbalances. It not only accelerates the deterioration of renal function, but also easily causes psychological problems and seriously affects the quality of life of patients. Kidney is an organ with dual functio

The economic burden of fibromyalgia: A systematic literature review.

INTRODUCTION: Fibromyalgia (FM) is a common disorder characterised by heterogeneous symptoms often leading to decreased functioning, work productivity and quality of life. Although a multimodal approach is used to treat FM, a significant proportion of patients show low satisfaction with perceived care, potentially resulting in an inefficient use of health care resources. The aim of the present review is to summarize the available evidence about the economic impact of FM and the specific cost drivers of health care expenditure for the syndrome. METHODS: MedLine and Web of Science databases wer
