Choroidal neovascular membrane associated with primary congenital glaucoma and buphthalmos.

An 18-year-old man with primary congenital glaucoma and buphthalmos in both eyes presented with unilateral, sudden-onset, painless vision loss. He had previously undergone multiple sectoral ab externo rigid-probe trabeculotomy in both eyes and subsequently Baervelt glaucoma implantion in both eyes, with adequate intraocular pressure control. Examination revealed subfoveal choroidal neovascular membrane (CNVM) and associated hemorrhages in the right eye. He was treated with 3 consecutive, monthly, intravitreal injections of bevacizumab and recovered baseline vision.

Angioid streaks - a rare cause of neovascular glaucoma. Case report.

Rationale. Neovascular glaucoma is the type of glaucoma most refractory to treatment. The most frequent causes are those associated with retinal hypoxia, such as proliferative diabetic retinopathy, central retinal vein occlusion, branch retinal vein occlusion, central retinal arterial occlusion, ischemic ocular syndrome etc. Rare causes of neovascular glaucoma are multiple and are due to VEGF synthesis associated with chorioretinal inflammations or degenerations. We present a case with neovascular glaucoma associated with an extremely rare cause, angioid streaks Objective. The objective of our

Assessing the role of ranibizumab in improving the outcome of glaucoma filtering surgery and neovascular glaucoma.

Ranibizumab was the first anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) agent approved for the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration. The use of ranibizumab and other anti-VEGF medications in recent years has revolutionized the treatment of several sight-threatening retinal disorders. Emerging evidence has demonstrated that anti-VEGF treatment can offer advantages in the management of other ocular conditions where VEGFs play a key role: ocular scarring following glaucoma filtering surgery and neovascular glaucoma (NVG). Areas covered: We critically review available evidenc

Neovascular glaucoma with combined retinal vascular occlusion in carotid cavernous fistula.

Carotid cavernous fistulas (CCFs) can present with varied ophthalmic manifestations. The most important vision-threatening complications of CCF include glaucoma and retinal vascular occlusions. We report a case of a man in his early 30s who developed a post-traumatic direct CCF. The patient denied undergoing embolisation therapy. This resulted in aggravation of his condition with onset of combined retinal venous and artery occlusion leading to neovascular glaucoma and severe vision loss. He was treated with medical management followed by diode laser photocoagulation to control intraocular pres
