OBJECTIVE: to describe the nursing care performed by the nursing team to the person with mental disorder submitted to ECT and to analyze the implications of the Psychiatric Reform in this care.
METHOD: socio-historical study, which uses the Thematic Oral History method.
RESULTS: the nursing team is present in a continuous way in the monitoring of people submitted to ECT, performing care before, during and after the same, as well as visualizing the evolution of the technique and also of nursing care itself, however, does not recognize the Psychiatric Reform as agent for this change.

Part I of this paper attempted to justify the need for this research for historical purposes, that is, to fill a gap in the history of nursing, and sought to raise awareness of possible bioterrorist activity with the smallpox virus. The disease process, now unfamiliar to most nurses, was briefly described, and reference was made to the change from a predominantly childhood to adult disease. Neither fully assignable to a specific status nor reducible to a fixed role, he eludes the usual frameworks upon which disciplinary narratives are constructed. By adopting a function-based approach, it becomes possible to shed light on what categories of status or profession leave in the shadows: a set of situated, relational, and organizational practices at the heart of the emergence of psychiatric care.

School-aged children frequently present to the school nurse office due to a rash. School nurses need to be familiar with common childhood rashes and evidence-based treatment recommendations. Most importantly, school nurses must possess knowledge of whether rashes are contagious and whether the child should remain in school or at home until resolution of the rash. It is essential that school nurses are aware of interventions to reduce the risk of spreading a contagious skin infection throughout their school.

In June of 1988, the Headache Classification Committee of the International Headache Society published new Classification and Diagnostic Criteria for Headache, Cranial Neuralgias, and Facial Pain. A new standard classification for migraine and tension-type headache was established. An assessment form facilitating headache classification by the neuroscience nurse according to the IHS criteria has been developed. The ability to quantify variables included in the new classification offers the opportunity for productive research on headache by neuroscience nurses.

Alzheimer's disease presents in many guises from the frankly florid to the benign decline in memory and functioning. Florence Nightingale (1820-1910) is well known to the public as the face behind the nursing profession. What has not been well studied is her cognitive decline in old age.
