Basaloid follicular hamartoma syndrome: acquired sporadic variant with hypothyroidism, hypohidrosis and alopecia, a rare case.

Multiple Ovulation and Embryo Transfer (MOET) technology is a potential technique to upgrade livestock species' genetics. The varied response to super-stimulatory treatments remains one of the limiting factors to this technology's widespread use. The present study was aimed to improve the superovulation response and in-vivo embryo production by using controlled internal drug release (CIDR)-GnRH or CIDR-EB (Estradiol Benzoate) along with conventional superovulation protocol in Holstein Frisian (HF): Bos taurus; n = 42) and Crossbred (XB: Cholistani (Bos indicus) × HF; n = 28) cows. The characterization of hypodontia, hypohidrosis, and hypotrichosis associated with X-linked hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia: A systematic review.

The objective of this study was to review the published literature on X-linked hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia (XLHED) for the prevalence and characteristics of three features of XLHED: hypodontia, hypohidrosis, and hypotrichosis. A systematic search of English-language articles was conducted in May 2019 to identify publications with information on any of the three features of XLHED. We excluded studies with five or fewer participants, that did not specify X-linked inheritance or an EDA mutation, and discussed only management of features. The weighted means for total missing teeth, location

Harlequin sign (hemifacial flushing and contralateral hypohidrosis) in a 4-year-old girl with Horner syndrome.

We report a Japanese infant with Horner syndrome whose clinical examination and testing suggested the location of the causative lesion. A 4-year-old Japanese girl had an acquired right ocular ptosis and unequal pupils presenting shortly after birth. She also exhibited left hemifacial flushing and loss of sweating on the contralateral side (harlequin sign). Physical examination demonstrated 2.0 mm of ptosis of the right upper lid with normal elevator function. The diameters of the pupils were 4 mm on the left and 2.5 mm on the right. No sweating was induced in the right frontal region at 40 deg

Early blistering, poikiloderma, hypohidrosis, alopecia and exocrine pancreatic hypofunction: a peculiar variant of Rothmund-Thomson syndrome?

A 20-year-old male developed early blistering, poikiloderma, hypohidrosis, alopecia and exocrine pancreatic hypofunction caused by atrophy and fatty replacement of the pancreas. At 5 months of age, he initially presented at the hospital with numerous blisters on his extremities, inguinal and genital area. A biopsy specimen from a vesicular lesion showed a subepidermal bulla. Electron microscopic examinations of a vesicular lesion revealed vacuolar changes of the basal cells without hemidesmosomes. Subsequently, the blisters gradually resolved and healed without scars. At the age of 11, he was

A case of disseminated DLE complicated by atopic dermatitis and Sjögren's syndrome: link between hypohidrosis and skin manifestations.

We report an unusual case of disseminated discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) complicated by pre-existing atopic dermatitis (AD) and late-onset Sjögren's syndrome (SS). Disseminated DLE lesions were sparse on the expected sites for AD, such as the medial region of the extremities or v-neck area. The patient fulfilled the diagnostic criteria for AD and SS but not for systemic lupus erythematosus. Histopathological analysis of the crusted erythematous lesions revealed typical DLE with few FoxP3(+) cells and a moderate number of IL-17(+) cells. A quantitative sweating test showed impaired sweating

Pharmacovigilance-based drug repurposing: searching for putative drugs with hypohidrosis or anhidrosis adverse events for use against hyperhidrosis.

BACKGROUND: Drug repurposing refers to the application of existing drugs to new therapeutic indications. As phenotypic indicators of human drug response, drug side effects may provide direct signals and unique opportunities for drug repurposing. OBJECTIVES: We aimed to identify drugs frequently associated with hypohidrosis or anhidrosis adverse reactions (that is, the opposite condition of hyperhidrosis) from the pharmacovigilance database, which could be potential candidates as anti-hyperhidrosis treatment agents. METHODS: In this observational, retrospective, pharmacovigilance study, adver

Application of iodinated starch powder using an atomizer spray gun - a new and effective tool to evaluate hypohidrosis.

BACKGROUND: Hypohidrosis is defined as diminished sweating in response to an appropriate thermal or sympathetic stimulus. When encountered in a clinical setting, it necessitates an accurate documentation of its pattern and extent to prognosticate the risk of associated heat-related illnesses. This can be achieved by thermoregulatory sweat testing which includes a starch-iodine sweat test that can be administered via various methods. OBJECTIVE: To describe and evaluate the effectiveness and safety of a novel method of using an atomizer spray gun in administering the starch-iodine test. METHOD

[Quantitative evaluation of perspiration with equipment for continuous recording of local perspiration volume (II): Hyperhidrosis and hypohidrosis (or anhidrosis)].

To objectively evaluate perspiration volume, we tried to measure the perspiration volume from 6 cases of hyperhidrosis and 4 cases of hypo-(or an-) hidrosis using recently developed equipment for continuous recording of local perspiration volume. Patients with hyperhidrosis were loaded with various factors to possibly influence the perspiration volume, and the effects were compared. The results revealed: 1) The measurement of local perspiration volume with this equipment provides objective data useful for the diagnosis of hyperhidrosis and hypo-(or an-) hidrosis and for the judgement of its gr

Acquired generalized hypohidrosis/anhidrosis with subclinical Sjögren's syndrome: report of a case with diffuse syringolymphoid hyperplasia and lymphocytic sialadenitis.

The pathogenesis and the underlying pathologic changes of acquired generalized hypohidrosis/anhidrosis (AGHA) are largely unknown. We studied a case of AGHA in a young woman suffering from heat intolerance and progressive loss of sweating. Pathologic study of affected skin revealed unique syringolymphoid hyperplasia with T cell infiltration, suggesting a T cell-mediated autoimmune disease. The patient also had subclinical Sjögren's syndrome and diffuse hair loss. The pathogenesis of the latter two conditions is believed to be related to the patient's AGHA.

Focal hypohidrosis in lesional skin in a probable case of confluent and reticulated papillomatosis: A case report with insight into the pathomechanism of recurrence.

Confluent and reticulated papillomatosis (CRP) is a rare skin disorder that develops in young adults and presents as persistent brown papules and plaques predominantly affecting the intertriginous areas, however, its etiopathogenesis remains elusive. Herein, we report a probable case of CRP with lesional hypohidrosis as detected by sweat test and provide insight into the pathomechanism. A 23-year-old man presented with nine-months history of painful sensation on his trunk without any skin change. The result of sweat test was compatible with acquired idiopathic generalized anhidrosis. Topical h

Multistage orthodontic-implantology-prosthetic treatment of a patient diagnosed with hypohidrosis ectodermal dysplasia syndrome with EDAR mutation: a case report.

Hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia (HED), caused by mutations in genes such as EDAR, is a genetic disorder characterized by hypodontia, hypotrichosis, and hypohidrosis. Dental anomalies in HED patients lead to functional and aesthetic impairments, necessitating multidisciplinary interventions. This case report highlights the role of combined orthodontic and prosthodontic approaches in managing HED-related dental deficiencies. CASE PRESENTATION: This clinical report describes the multistage treatment of a 32-year-old woman diagnosed with a dominant case of ED with c.175-2(IVS 3)A > G mutation of

Hypohidrosis, electrolyte imbalance, lacrimal gland dysfunction, ichthyosis and xerostomia syndrome caused by a novel claudin-10 variant in an adult with hypokalaemic metabolic alkalosis.

We report a man in his mid-30s who presented with persistent hypokalaemia and was initially suspected to have Gitelman syndrome because of hypokalaemic metabolic alkalosis, hypocalciuria and normal blood pressure. However, the absence of hypomagnesaemia was atypical, and a urine osmolality that was low relative to a concurrent serum osmolality of 285 mOsm/kg prompted further evaluation, which confirmed a partial urinary concentrating defect on formal testing. Genetic testing identified a novel homozygous frameshift variant in CLDN10 NM_006984.5(CLDN10):c.113del, p.(Thr38Argfs*46) confirming HE

Focal (segmental) dyshidrosis in syringomyelia.

The features or mechanisms of dyshidrosis have not been sufficiently clarified. Neither has the difference between hyperhidrosis and hypohidrosis. To clarify the features and mechanisms of dyshidrosis (hyperhidrosis and hypohidrosis) in syringomyelia, the clinical features focusing on hidrosis of 30 patients with syringomyelia and Chiari malformation located from a syringomyelia database were prospectively analysed. The patients were classified into three groups: eight patients (26.7%) had segmental hypohidrosis, 10 (33. 3%) had segmental hyperhidrosis, and 12 (40.0%) had normohidrosis. We fou
