A novel modification of a bone repositioning device and a new technique for reestablishing facial contours after mandibular resection surgery.

A novel modification of a bone repositioning device previously published by the same authors is introduced. A flexible tube to define the intersegmental bony relationship is filled with light-cured resin. It solidifies following exposure to strong visible light for about 1 min. This technique can be used for bone positioning after mandibular resection surgery and during positioning of the proximal segment after sagittal split ramus osteotomy. The authors also propose a simple method for determining the contour of the reconstructed mandible to regain the original shape and form. The advantage o

A digital workflow for full-mouth rehabilitation using CAD-CAM tooth reduction template.

A digital workflow is presented for multiple transfers of targeted jaw relation and restorative spaces from interim to definitive restorations in patients with severe tooth wear. Following analysis of the targeted restorative space, segmented arch stereolithographic templates were digitally created and fabricated for precise control of reduction depth. Then, the jaw relation was transferred from the initially determined stabilization splint to the temporary fixed restoration and definitive restoration by using a digital articulator. This digital approach yielded a stabilized jaw relationship a

True horizontal or gravity plane registration for transferring the maxillary scan into the virtual articulator by using a facial scanner without the need for an additional device.

Different reference planes can be used to transfer the maxillary cast into the analog articulator, including the true horizontal or gravity reference plane. Different techniques have been described to record the gravity reference plane for transferring the maxillary scan into the virtual articulator by using facial scanning techniques. However, these digital facebow procedures require the use of an extraoral scan body system, printed reference device, or orientation reference board. This manuscript describes a technique for recording the gravity reference plane by using a facial scanner withou

Hemifacial microsomia treated with the Herbst appliance. Report of a case analyzed by means of roentgen stereometry and metallic implants.

The effect of Herbst appliance treatment on facial growth of one patient was recorded in terms of displacement of the mandible and the maxillary bones in relation to the frontal bone. The recordings were made with an accuracy of 0.1 degree and 0.05 mm. (S.D.). Before treatment the jaws were displaced posteriorly and to the affected side with growth, increasing the degree of retrognathia and facial asymmetry. During treatment facial growth was redirected and the jaws were displaced anteriorly and to the unaffected side, decreasing th degree of retrognathia and asymmetry. At the same time, howev
