Therapeutic drug monitoring-guided linezolid salvage therapy for Lacticaseibacillus paracasei infective endocarditis: A case report.

We report a rare case of infective endocarditis (IE) caused by Lacticaseibacillus paracasei (formerly Lactobacillus paracasei) that was managed with intravenous linezolid as salvage therapy. A 38-year-old woman presented with a three-week history of intermittent fever and cutaneous manifestations, and was diagnosed with IE caused by Lacticaseibacillus paracasei. The initial ampicillin/clindamycin therapy was discontinued due to suspected drug fever, and subsequent levofloxacin monotherapy was complicated by a drug-induced rash. Linezolid monotherapy was therefore initiated as salvage therapy,

Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus P118 enhances host tolerance to Salmonella infection by promoting microbe-derived indole metabolites.

Salmonella is one of the most common foodborne pathogens, resulting in inflammatory gastroenteritis and frequently accompanied by dysbiosis. Gut commensals, such as Lactobacillus species, have been proven to exhibit broad antibacterial activities and protect hosts against pathogenic infections. Here, Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus strain P118, screened from 290 isolates recovered from fermented yogurts and healthy piglet intestines using traditional and Caenorhabditis elegans-infection screening strategies, exerts great probiotic properties. Notably, P118 and its supernatant exhibited great anti

Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus LRJ-1 alleviates constipation through promoting gut Bacteroides-derived γ-aminobutyric acid production.

Multiple gastrointestinal disorders are associated with impaired gut microbiota. Probiotic Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus can improve bowel disorder, however, the action mechanism is poorly understood. We integrated multi-omics data from the gut metagenome, metabolome, and colon transcriptome of constipated mice underlying L. rhamnosus LRJ-1 treatment to provide insights into host-microbial metabolic pathway. We found that oral administration of L. rhamnosus LRJ-1 alleviated constipation in mice accompanied by the increased abundances of fecal γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and intestinal commensal

Development of Pharmabiotic Gel-Serums with Lacticaseibacillus casei Postbiotics and Paraprobiotics Using Chitosan and Carbopol.

Postbiotic and paraprobiotic preparations are increasingly investigated as non-viable microbial-derived components for topical formulation development, offering an alternative to systems containing live microorganisms. However, their physicochemical and biological performance may depend strongly on the polymeric carrier, and direct comparisons of postbiotic and paraprobiotic fractions derived from the same microbial source in different gel matrices remain limited. This study aimed to develop and comparatively evaluate Carbopol®- and chitosan-based pharmabiotic gel-serums containing Lacticaseib

Small Intestine on a Chip Demonstrates Physiologic Mucus Secretion in the Presence of Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus Biofilm.

The small intestine is an area of the digestive system difficult to access using current medical procedures, which prevents studies on the interactions between food, drugs, the small intestinal epithelium, and resident microbiota. Therefore, there is a need to develop novel microfluidic models that mimic the intestinal biological and mechanical environments. These models can be used for drug discovery and disease modeling and have the potential to reduce reliance on animal models. The goal of this study was to develop a small intestine on a chip with both enterocyte (Caco-2) and goblet (HT29-M

Longitudinal Analysis of the Immunostimulatory Properties and Safety Profile of Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus LRa05 as a Dietary Supplement.

Supplementation with appropriate doses of Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus has been reported to potentially attenuate immune changes. While some progress has been made in studying the immune function of L. rhamnosus LRa05, a lack of systematic summaries has led to the neglect of its application in enhancing immune function. This study aimed to investigate the effects of L. rhamnosus LRa05 on the immune function of mice and to evaluate its safety profile as a dietary supplement. Mice were divided into three dosage groups (0.205, 0.410, and 1.230 g/kg body weight [BW]) and a negative control group (
