[Research progress of magnetic microporous organic networks in magnetic solid-phase extraction].

Recently, magnetic microporous organic networks (MMONs) have emerged as a novel class of adsorbents in magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE). By integrating the unique properties of microporous organic networks (MONs) and magnetic nanoparticles, MMONs exhibit advantages such as designable structures, facile synthesis, diverse architectures, high specific surface area, and excellent stability, garnering widespread attention in the field of sample pretreatment. The current strategies for preparing MMONs mainly include in-situ growth, post-synthetic modification (PSM), and composite preparation.

Evidence of dipolar magnetic interactions in the self-assembly of two-dimensional magnetic nanocubes.

We report an experimental study on the self-assembly and atomic force microscopy (AFM) manipulation of ligand-free Fe/Fe3O4 nanocubes synthesized via a gas aggregation cluster source, a method that eliminates steric and capillary effects typical of wet-chemistry routes. This approach isolates magnetic dipolar and surface forces as the primary drivers of cluster formation. Sub-20 nm nanocubes spontaneously organize into close-packed two-dimensional arrays with dominant {100}-{100} contacts, exhibiting a preferential [001] magnetic easy axis consistent with Fe-core-driven anisotropy. AFM manipul

Giant spin-orbit magnetic state readout enhanced by a magnetic tunnel junction.

Magnetoelectric spin-orbit (MESO) logic, composed of a voltage-controlled magnetoelectric writing module and a spin-orbit readout module, is highly expected to substitute the silicon-based transistors and enable energy-efficient and scalable computing. Nevertheless, the output voltage of readout module based on spin-to-charge conversion is far less than the minimum magnetoelectric writing voltage, which greatly restricts the cascading function of MESO logic. Here, we first propose a magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ)-enhanced MESO logic to implement giant readout signal. Up to 1.5 mV output voltag

Novel Magnetic-Field-Free Switching Behavior in vdW-Magnet/Oxide Heterostructure.

Magnetization switching by charge current without a magnetic field is essential for device applications and information technology. It generally requires a current-induced out-of-plane spin polarization beyond the capability of conventional ferromagnet/heavy-metal systems, where the current-induced spin polarization aligns in-plane orthogonal to the in-plane charge current and out-of-plane spin current. Here, a new approach is demonstrated for magnetic-field-free switching by fabricating a van-der-Waals magnet and oxide Fe3GeTe2/SrTiO3 heterostructure. This new magnetic-field-free switching is

Compact piezo-driven rotatable magnetic force microscope in a cryogen-free magnet.

Achieving in situ rotation of scanning probe microscopes (SPMs) within high-field magnets presents significant technical challenges while remaining essential for micron-scale magnetic anisotropy studies. Here, we demonstrate a compact piezoelectrically driven rotatable magnetic force microscope operable within a standard 50 mm bore cryogen-free superconducting magnet, achieving fields up to 12 T and temperatures down to 2 K. The microscope features a nested coaxial piezoelectric scanning tube (PST) design sharing a common base. In this design, the outer PST provides rigid support for the tip h

Methanol-Free Protein Expression in Komagataella phaffii With Magnetic or Non-Magnetic Heating.

Komagataella phaffii is among the most widely used expression systems, with methanol-inducible promoters being preferred for protein expression due to their stringent regulation and exceptional strength. However, the applicability of this system, particularly in food and pharmaceutical products, is limited by methanol's toxic and pro-inflammatory properties. Therefore, obtaining a novel methanol-free expression system is necessary. In this study, we obtained a novel expression plasmid, pHSPαA, carrying the HSP70 promoter (PHSP70) to regulate heterologous expression through heat induction. The

Magnetization and Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility of a Liquid Crystal Doped with Chlorophylls a, b and Carotenoids.

The magnetization and anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility of a 5CB nematic liquid crystal doped three extracts containing chlorophylls a and b and carotenoids in different weight percentage has been studied. The extracts have been dissolved in the liquid crystal matrix at a concentration of 2%. The magnetic susceptibility of the substances has been measured by the Faraday-Curie balance method. The field σ(H) and temperature Δχ(T) dependences of molar magnetizations σ and anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility Δχ for the investigated objects have been obtained. The divergence of the σ(H) depen

Clinical compatibility of magnetic resonance imaging with magnetic intramedullary nails: a feasibility study.

INTRODUCTION: The use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with a magnetic intramedullary lengthening nail in place is contraindicated per the manufacturer due to the concern of implant activation and migration. A prior in vitro study did not confirm these complications only noting that a 3.0 T MRI weakened the internal magnet. Therefore, a retrospective analysis of patients who underwent an MRI with a magnetic nail in place was performed to determine if any adverse effects occurred in the clinical setting. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective review of all patients who underwent an MRI with

Quantification of the Magnetic Anisotropy of a Single-Molecule Magnet from the Experimental Electron Density.

Reported here is an entirely new application of experimental electron density (EED) in the study of magnetic anisotropy of single-molecule magnets (SMMs). Among those SMMs based on one single transition metal, tetrahedral CoII-complexes are prominent, and their large zero-field splitting arises exclusively from coupling between the d x 2 - y 2 and dxy orbitals. Using very low temperature single-crystal synchrotron X-ray diffraction data, an accurate electron density (ED) was obtained for a prototypical SMM, and the experimental d-orbital populations were used to quantify the dxy-d x 2

Noninvasive management of cochlear implant's inner magnet displacement after magnetic resonance.

MRI is a widespread and greatly helpful diagnostic tool, yet its use on cochlear implant patients is restricted by the presence of an inner magnet. We report on a case of magnet dislodgment after 1.5T MRI in a 31-year-old female with a Hi-Res 90K cochlear implant. In this case, it was possible to implement an alternative, totally noninvasive approach based on an external manual repositioning rather than a surgical procedure of the displaced magnet.

The assembly state between magnetic nanosensors and their targets orchestrates their magnetic relaxation response.

The target-induced clustering of magnetic nanoparticles is typically used for the identification of clinically relevant targets and events. A decrease in the water proton transverse NMR relaxation time, or T(2), is observed upon clustering, allowing the sensitive and accurate detection of target molecules. We have discovered a new mechanistically unique nanoparticle-target interaction resulting in a T(2) increase and demonstrate herein that this increase, and its associated r(2) relaxivity decrease, are also observed upon the interaction of the nanoparticles with ligands or molecular entities.

A longitudinal conventional and magnetization transfer magnetic resonance imaging study of optic neuritis.

Eleven consecutive patients with a first episode of acute optic neuritis were evaluated, using conventional and magnetization transfer (MT) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), in order to assess the temporal evolution of optic nerve (ON) damage and to investigate the correlation of ON damage with visual outcome and electrophysiological parameters. Patients underwent neuroophthalmological, neurological, electrophysiological, and MRI assessments at baseline and after three and 12 months. ON volumes were measured on coronal T1-weighted images using a local thresholding segmentation technique. MT ra

Magnetization transfer magnetic resonance imaging of the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerve.

Magnetic resonance imaging is highly sensitive in revealing CNS abnormalities associated with several neurological conditions, but lacks specificity for their pathological substrates. In addition, MRI does not allow evaluation of the presence and extent of damage in regions that appear normal on conventional MRI sequences and that postmortem studies have shown to be affected by pathology. Quantitative MR-based techniques with increased pathological specificity to the heterogeneous substrates of CNS pathology have the potential to overcome such limitations. Among these techniques, one of the mo

Magnetic resonance imaging and proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy in neuro-Behçet's disease.

OBJECTIVE: Neuro-Behcet's disease (NBD) is one of the most serious complications of Behcet's disease (BD). Proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H MRS) has been proved to be useful in detecting neuro-metabolic abnormalities in various diseases affecting the brain. In this study, we attempted to characterize the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings in Korean patients with NBD and then examined the usefulness of 1HMRS in evaluating the MRI-negative brain area of NBD patients. METHODS: We performed brain MRI in 18 BD patients with neurologic symptoms and signs. Seven NBD patients without

Photosensitive epilepsy studied by functional magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

PURPOSE: To study metabolic and hemodynamic correlates of photic stimulation-triggered discharges. METHODS: Simultaneous EEG, functional MRI (tMRI) and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) were performed in nine patients with photosensitive epilepsy and in 12 normal subjects. RESULTS: Prominent visual cortex activation was seen in all normal subjects and patients, and no tMRI-registered hemodynamic abnormalities were correlated with the brief photoparoxysmal spike-wave activity evoked in the photosensitive patients. However, irrespective of the presence of a spike-wave response to the photi
