Electrocatalytic Hydrogenation with Nanoparticles Derived from a Cobalt Metal-Organic Framework.

Electrocatalytic hydrogenation (e -H) provides a sustainable route for converting unsaturated organic substrates under mild conditions using renewable electricity as the driving force. Here, we report an MOF-derived cobalt catalyst for the e -H of acetone and pyridine. A new two-dimensional cobalt metal-organic framework, Co-L0-NS, composed of Co(II) nodes and polyaromatic carboxylate linkers, was synthesized as nanosheets and used as a precursor to generate the active catalyst under cathodic bias. Electrochemical pretreatment induces controlled framework reconstruction to form MD-Cat, a highl

Hybrid-designed metal-phenolic nanoparticles for synergistic nano-gene periodontal therapy.

Periodontitis, a chronic inflammatory disease driven by bacterial plaques, causes tooth loss and systemic health issues. Traditional therapies, including mechanical debridement, anti-inflammatory medications, and surgery, often fail to concurrently resolve infection, inflammation, and tissue regeneration, limiting their effectiveness. Using a platform rooted in function-based synthesis and architecture-guided design, miR126@CuxO nanoparticles was engineered through a hybrid approach, melding bottom-up assembly of metal-phenolic precursors with top-down phased calcination tailoring. NIR-II Photoactivatable Cobalt(III) Nanoparticles for Photoactivated Metal Chemo-Immunotherapy.

Photoactivated cobalt(III) (Co(III)) complexes have great potential for cancer therapy due to their unique interactions with cancer cells. However, its clinical application remains limited by its high toxicity due to low spatial-temporal control. Here, a second near-infrared window (NIR-II) photoactivated Co(III) nanoparticles (NanoCo) is shown. Under 1064 nm light irradiation, NanoCo is capable of generating photothermal heat to accelerate the reduction of Co(III) to Co(II). Under hypoxic conditions, NanoCo is 166 times more effective than cisplatin at killing platinum-resistant A549DDP tumor

Polymeric pH-Responsive Metal-Supramolecular Nanoparticles for Synergistic Chemo-Photothermal Therapy.

Stimuli-responsive drug delivery carriers, particularly those exhibiting pH sensitivity, have attracted significant scholarly interest due to their promising potential in anticancer therapeutic applications. This phenomenon can primarily be ascribed to the inherently acidic nature of tumor microenvironments. However, pH-responsive carriers frequently require the incorporation of functional groups or materials sensitive to pH changes. Given the pH-sensitive characteristics of metal coordination with natural small-molecule drugs, organometallic supramolecules present a facile and effective strat

Biomimetic Antidote Nanoparticles: a Novel Strategy for Chronic Heavy Metal Poisoning.

Chronic lead poisoning has become a major factor in global public health. Chelation therapy is usually used to manage lead poisoning. Dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) is a widely used heavy metal chelation agent. However, DMSA has the characteristics of poor water solubility, low oral bioavailability, and short half-life, which limit its clinical application. Herein, a long-cycle slow-release nanodrug delivery system was constructed. We successfully coated the red blood cell membrane (RBCM) onto the surface of dimercaptosuccinic acid polylactic acid glycolic acid copolymer (PLGA) nanoparticles (

Selective Adsorption of Thiols Using Gold Nanoparticles Supported on Metal Oxides.

Selective capture of thiols from a synthetic hydrogen sulfide containing mixture using supported nanogold materials has been explored for the potential removal of thiols from sour gas production fluids. In this research, TiO2-, Al2O3-, SiO2-, and ZnO-supported gold nanoparticles have been studied for their usage as regeneratable adsorbents to capture CH3SH, C2H5SH, and i-C3H7SH. Au/TiO2 and Au/Al2O3 showed promising properties for removing the thiols efficiently from a gas-phase mixture; however, Au/Al2O3 did catalyze some undesirable side reactions, e.g., carbonyl sulfide formation. It was fo

Metal sulfide nanoparticles synthesized via enzyme treatment of biopolymer stabilized nanosuspensions.

Nanoparticles of CuS, Cu(x)S, Ag(2)S and CdS were successfully prepared using a novel general and green synthetic process to give dextran biopolymer stabilised metal sulfifde nanosuspensions. Following preparation, dextranase enzyme was used to remove the bulk of the bound dextran to give pure stable metal sulfide nanocrystals for application in for example aspects of medicine, photonics and solar cells. Particles of good homogeneity were obtained and the CuS nanoparticle size was controlled to 9-27 nm by adjusting the reaction conditions. Cu(2)S nanoparticles were 14 nm, Ag(2)S nanoparticles

High-Sensitive Mass Cytometry Metal Tags Based on Noble Metal Nanoparticles Assisting Acute Myeloid Leukemia Immune Checkpoint Profiling.

Mass cytometry is optimal for acute leukemia immune checkpoint profiling. However, current commercial metal-chelating polymer (MCP) metal tags limit its sensitivity due to low metal loading capacity. We report a novel synthetic strategy employing antibody-conjugated gold or platinum nanoparticles (AuNP/PtNP) for high-dimensional single-cell immunophenotyping in both single cell suspension mass cytometry and imaging mass cytometry. Extremely low-dose AuNP (34 NPs/cell) exhibited MCP-comparable sensitivity, while high doses enabled up to 48-fold signal amplification. Furthermore, integration of

Mechanism of Producing Metallic Nanoparticles, with an Emphasis on Silver and Gold Nanoparticles, Using Bottom-Up Methods.

Bottom-up nanoparticle (NP) formation is assumed to begin with the reduction of the precursor metallic ions to form zero-valent atoms. Studies in which this assumption was made are reviewed. The standard reduction potential for the formation of aqueous metallic atoms-E0(Mn+aq/M0aq)-is significantly lower than the usual standard reduction potential for reducing metallic ions Mn+ in aqueous solution to a metal in solid state. E0(Mn+aq/M0solid). E0(Mn+aq/M0aq) values are negative for many typical metals, including Ag and Au, for which E0(Mn+aq/M0solid) is positive. Therefore, many common moderate

Group 12 metal monoselenocarboxylates: synthesis, characterization, structure and their transformation to metal selenide (MSe; M = Zn, Cd, Hg) nanoparticles.

Reactions of [MCl2(tmeda)] with potassium salts of monoselenocarboxylic acids gave complexes of the general formula [M(SeCOR)2(tmeda)] (M = Zn, Cd; R = Ph, Tol; Tol = C6H4-p-CH3; tmeda = Me2NCH2CH2NMe2). The analogous mercury complexes were unstable at room temperature and afforded HgSe nanoparticles during the course of reaction. All the complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-vis, NMR (1H, 13C, 77Se, 113Cd) data. The X-ray structural analysis of [Cd(SeCOPh)2(tmeda)] revealed that the complex is a discrete monomer having an approximate tetrahedral coordination environment a
