Hybrid spatial-field attention network for meteorological data downscaling.

Near-surface weather variables play an important role in production. However, the coarse spatial resolution meteorological data in existing meteorological products limit their applicability in modern high-precision engineering and decision-making scenarios. To address this limitation, we propose a deep learning-based meteorological downscaling framework, Hybrid Spatial-Field Attention Network (HSFANet). HSFANet is built upon a hybrid spatial-field attention module that jointly models local spatial dependencies, global spatial correlations, and cross-field interactions among different meteorolo

Modelling the impacts of meteorological factors on herpangina: a Bayesian spatiotemporal analysis.

BACKGROUND: Herpangina is a common enteroviral illness in young children with recurrent seasonal surges. Although meteorological conditions influence transmission, evidence capturing non-linear and delayed effects across space remains limited. We aimed to quantify the exposure-lag-response associations of temperature, precipitation, and relative humidity with herpangina risk in Japan using a Bayesian spatiotemporal model. METHODS: Weekly sentinel surveillance herpangina cases and meteorological variables were obtained for the 47 prefectures from January 2001 to December 2024. We applied a Bay

Patterns in acute aortic dissection and a connection to meteorological conditions in Germany.

Acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) is a dramatic emergency exhibiting a mortality of 50% within the first 48 hours if not operated. This study found an absolute value of cosine-like seasonal variation pattern for Germany with significantly fewer ATAAD events (Wilcoxon test) for the warm months of June, July, and August from 2005 to 2015. Many studies suspect a connection between ATAAD events and weather conditions. Using ERA5 reanalysis data and an objective weather type classification in a contingency table approach showed that for Germany, significantly more ATAAD events occurred during

Association of Meteorological Factors With COVID-19 During Harmattan in Nigeria.

Harmattan is a season of dry, cold, dusty wind, and haze that is peculiar to West Africa. This season and COVID-19 share common conditions such as malaise and respiratory issues like as runny nose, cough and sneezing, and raise a question of a possible relationship that begs to be answered. This study investigated whether the meteorological factors of humidity and wind speed during harmattan have association with COVID-19 incidence and mortality in the 2 major COVID-19 epicenters of Lagos state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in southern and northern geopolitical regions of Nigeria res

Correlation of Dengue and Meteorological Factors in Bangladesh: A Public Health Concern.

Dengue virus (DENV) is an enveloped, single-stranded RNA virus, a member of the Flaviviridae family (which causes Dengue fever), and an arthropod-transmitted human viral infection. Bangladesh is well known for having some of Asia's most vulnerable Dengue outbreaks, with climate change, its location, and it's dense population serving as the main contributors. For speculation about DENV outbreak characteristics, it is crucial to determine how meteorological factors correlate with the number of cases. This study used five time series models to observe the trend and forecast Dengue cases. Current

The influence of meteorological factors on the risk of tick-borne encephalitis infection.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this work was to analyze the relationship between new cases of clinical tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) and various meteorological and seasonal predictors. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The modelling is based on national data from the Czech Republic for the period 2001-2016 in daily resolution, namely on average temperatures, average relative air humidity and the number of TBE cases classified according to the date of the first symptoms. Four variants of a negative binomial model from the generalized additive model class are used. The basic model relates the occurrence of TBE to

Meteorological conditions and Legionnaires' disease sporadic cases-a systematic review.

A number of studies suggest that meteorological conditions are related to the risk of Legionnaires' disease (LD) but the findings are not consistent. A systematic review was conducted to investigate the association of weather with sporadic LD and highlight the key meteorological conditions related to this outcome. PubMed, EMBASE, The Cochrane Library and OpenGrey were searched on 26-27 March 2020 without date, language or location restrictions. Key words included "legionellosis", "legionnaires' disease", combined with "meteorological conditions", "weather", "temperature", "humidity", "rain", "

Association between meteorological factors and the prevalence dynamics of Japanese encephalitis.

Japanese encephalitis (JE) is an acute infectious disease caused by the Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) and is transmitted by mosquitoes. Meteorological conditions are known to play a pivotal role in the spread of JEV. In this study, a zero-inflated generalised additive model and a long short-term memory model were used to assess the relationship between the meteorological factors and population density of Culex tritaeniorhynchus as well as the incidence of JE and to predict the prevalence dynamics of JE, respectively. The incidence of JE in the previous month, the mean air temperature and t

Respiratory syncytial virus infection trend is associated with meteorological factors.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infects young children and causes influenza-like illness. RSV circulation and prevalence differ among countries and climates. To better understand whether climate factors influence the seasonality of RSV in Thailand, we examined RSV data from children ≤ 5 years-old who presented with respiratory symptoms from January 2012-December 2018. From a total of 8,209 nasopharyngeal samples, 13.2% (1,082/8,209) was RSV-positive, of which 37.5% (406/1,082) were RSV-A and 36.4% (394/1,082) were RSV-B. The annual unimodal RSV activity from July-November overlaps with the r
