Facilitators, barriers, and recommendations for mobile health applications among Chinese older populations: a scoping review.

BACKGROUND: Mobile health (mHealth) applications have become indispensable in people's daily lives and are now incorporated into a multitude of healthcare services. However, due to inappropriate designs and ineffective promotional strategies, the rates of uptake and continued use of mHealth applications in older adults are usually low. Given that recent evidence has reported distinct mHealth adoption patterns between Chinese and non-Chinese populations, the aim of this scoping review was to map relevant evidence on the end-user perceptions and age-appropriate recommendations for interface desi

The role of mobile instrumentation in novel applications of Raman spectroscopy: archaeometry, geosciences, and forensics.

The applications of analytical Raman spectroscopy in the characterisation of materials associated with archaeologically excavated artefacts, forensic investigations of drugs of abuse, security and crime scenes, minerals and rocks and future astrobiological space missions are now well established; however, these applications have emphasised the need for new developments in the area of miniaturised instrumentation which extends the concept and breadth of the analytical requirement to facilitate the provision of data from 'in field' studies. In this respect, the apparently unrelated themes of art

Adoption of contact-tracing mobile applications in Japan: the relationship with source credibility and privacy.

BACKGROUND: Contact-tracing apps were introduced globally during the COVID-19 pandemic but saw limited adoption, hindering their effectiveness. This study, based on privacy calculus theory [Culnan MJ, Armstrong PK. Information privacy concerns, procedural fairness, and impersonal trust: an empirical investigation. Organiz Sci. 1999;10(1):104-15], examines how information source credibility and perceived privacy affect Japanese people's intention to adopt these apps. It also explores the moderating effects of trust in government and source credibility on this relationship and identifies the typ

LipoDDx: a mobile application for identification of rare lipodystrophy syndromes.

BACKGROUND: Lipodystrophy syndromes are a group of disorders characterized by a loss of adipose tissue once other situations of nutritional deprivation or exacerbated catabolism have been ruled out. With the exception of the HIV-associated lipodystrophy, they have a very low prevalence, which together with their large phenotypic heterogeneity makes their identification difficult, even for endocrinologists and pediatricians. This leads to significant delays in diagnosis or even to misdiagnosis. Our group has developed an algorithm that identifies the more than 40 rare lipodystrophy subtypes des

Mindfulness-Based Mobile Application for African American Caregivers.

People living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) are disproportionately African American and many report receiving care from informal (unpaid) caregivers, typically friends and family, including emotional and physical support, financial assistance, and health advice. Informal caregiving can lead to increased stress levels, which, in turn, may cause physical and mental health problems in caregivers. This pilot proof-of-concept study examined the feasibility and acceptability of a mobile application (app) designed to reduce caregiver stress. In this prospective mixed-methods study, African American informal
