The potential therapeutic value of Moringa oleifera extract (MOE), due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effects, has been reported previously. In this study, Hymenolepis nana antigen (HNA) in combination with MOE was used in immunization against H. nana infection. Adult worm and egg counts were taken, while histological changes in the intestine were observed. Mucosal mast (MMCs) and goblet cells (GCs) were stained with specific stains, while serum and intestinal IgA were assayed using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Reduced glutathione (GSH) and lipid peroxidation (thiobarb

This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of Moringa oleifera Lam (Moringa) seed extract on liver fibrosis. Liver fibrosis was induced by the oral administration of 20% carbon tetrachloride (CCl(4)), twice weekly and for 8 weeks. Simultaneously, M.oleifera Lam seed extract (1g/kg) was orally administered daily. The biochemical and histological results showed that Moringa reduced liver damage as well as symptoms of liver fibrosis. The administration of Moringa seed extract decreased the CCl(4)-induced elevation of serum aminotransferase activities and globulin level. The elevations of h

The parasitic nematode Trichinella spiralis (T. spiralis) offers a rich experimental model in the study of muscle inflammation and regeneration. The larval stage of the parasite is a particularly challenging drug target due to its encystation inside the sophisticated nurse cell complex. Non-conventional pharmacological approaches such as herbal remedies and nanoformulations have garnered special research attention in the management of T. spiralis-induced myositis. The current study investigated the effects of Moringa oleifera nanoparticles (MON) and Ivermectin nanoparticles (IVN) on T. spirali

The principal etiological agent responsible for dental caries is Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans). The Moringa oleifera (M. oleifera) possesses antioxidant and antibacterial properties that function through the response to oxidative stress, which affects bacterial cell metabolism. This research examined M. oleifera impact on S. mutans growth, toxicity, glucan-binding protein (GBP) expression, and nucleic acid structure. Methods included spectrophotometry for growth analysis, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for GBP quantification, the (3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5 diphenyl tetrazolium bro

Moringa oleifera (M. oleifera) is a tropical tree native to Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan; it is cultivated for its nutritious leaves, pods, and seeds. This scientific study was conducted to outline the anti-inflammatory properties and mechanisms of action of bioactive compounds from M. oleifera. The existing research has found that the plant is used in traditional medicine due to its bioactive compounds, including phytochemicals: flavonoids and polyphenols. The compounds are thought to exert their anti-inflammatory effects due to: (1) inhibition of pro-inflammatory enzymes: que

BACKGROUND: There are considerable attempts worldwide on herbal and traditional compounds to validate their use as anti-cancer drugs. Plants from Moringaceae family including Moringa oleifera possess several activities such as antitumor effect on tumor cell lines. In this study we sought to determine if callus and leaf extracts of M. oleifera possess any cytotoxicity.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Ethanol-water (70-30) extracts of callus and leaf of M. oleifera were prepared by maceration method. The amount of phenolic compounds of the extracts was determined by Folin Ciocalteu method. The cytotoxic

Breastfeeding women require specific nutrition to support the quality and secretion of breast milk, which can be achieved through the development of analog rice. Several potential alternatives to develop analog rice, including sago and corn flour, can be developed with the addition of moringa leaf powder due to its high nutritional composition and bioactive compounds, particularly high protein, iron, phytosterols, and flavonoids, which are suitable for breastfeeding women. However, as a new product, besides considering its nutritional value, developing the preferred and acceptable formulation

OBJECTIVE: Cisplatin, a widely used therapy for solid tumors, is associated with hepatotoxicity characterized by cytoplasmic vacuolization of liver cells, sinusoidal congestion, mononuclear and Kupffer cell infiltration, and focal necrosis. Moringa oleifera (M. oleifera) leaves, rich in flavonoids with antioxidant properties, may mitigate hepatotoxicity. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of ethanol extract of M. oleifera leaves on inflammation, oxidative stress, and liver cell damage in a rat model of cisplatin-induced hepatotoxicity.

This study aimed to explore the potential protective impacts of Moringa oleifera extract on major alteration in salivary glands of rats exposed to sodium valproate (VA). Groups were defined as control, control+moringa extract, sodium valproate, and sodium valproate+moringa extract. Antioxidant and oxidant status, activities of digestive and metabolic enzymes were examined. VA treatment led to various biochemical changes in the salivary glands, including decreased levels of antioxidants like glutathione, glutathione-S-transferase, and superoxide dismutase (except for sublingual superoxide dismu

The organoleptic and physicochemical properties of soy-milk yoghurt enriched with moringa root powder are evaluated here. Moringa oleifera soy-milk yoghurt is produced at different formulations blended from cow milk: soymilk: Moringa in a ratio of A (100%:0%:0%; B (60%:39.9%:0.1%); C (50%:49.9%:0.1%), D (40%:59.9%:0.1%), and E (0%:99.9%:0.1%) with sample A serving as the control. Sensory analysis is done for each formulation and the physicochemical properties of the preferred formulations are performed. The pH and titratable acidity are measured by a pH meter and titration respectively. Proxim
