BACKGROUND: The presence of spread through air spaces (STAS) predicts poor long-term survival of lung cancer patients. However, the association between STAS and prognosis of operated lung squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) remains unclear at this time. In this series of 3,432 cases of malignant melanoma of the choroid and ciliary body, mortality from metastasis 15 years after enucleation was 46 per cent. This mortality was at least ten times greater than has been observed with tumors of the iris, probably owing to the greater size and more malignant cytology of choroidal and ciliary body tumors. In 56 per cent of the 3,432 cases, the melanomas were composed of a mixture of spindle and epithelioid cells. The 15-year mortality of patients with melanomas of mixed cell type was three times that of patients with tumors of pure spindle cell type.

BACKGROUND: Tumors of the pineal gland are rare pathology. This paper reports on therapeutical considerations of histologically heterogeneous pineal tumors in a group of 15 patients and is presenting a special case of neuroaxial seeding.
METHODS: Surgery and/or additional therapeutic procedures were performed in 13 of our 15 patients ("youngster" and "adults") in respect of pathomorphology. Progression to Acute Myeloid Leukemia is a well-known complication of classical philadelphia-negative chronic myeloproliferative neoplasms, while disease progression to Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia remains an extremely unfrequent event. Primitive neuroectodermal tumours (PNET) are highly malignant, undifferentiated supratentorial neoplasms arising from germinal matrix cells of the primitive neural tube. Computed tomography (CT) is currently the primary and generally the definitive imaging modality for the diagnosis, evaluation, and management of intracranial neoplasms in children. Out of 440 pleural biopsies done with Abrams or Castelain needle, performed over 11 years in 300 pleural effusions, only 14 incidents of accidents occurred. Gliomatosis peritonei (GP) is an unusual condition in which nodules of mature astroglia, often miliary and microscopic in size, are widespread in the peritoneum and abdominal lymph nodes.
