OBJECT: Collectively, metastatic tumors are the most common malignancy encountered in the adult central nervous system (CNS), arising most often from lung, breast, skin, and gastrointestinal tract carcinomas. Limited information is available in the literature regarding solid nonhematopoietic CNS metastases in children. This study investigates gonadal histology in individuals with Turner syndrome assigned female at birth and Y-chromosome material (TS+Y) who underwent prophylactic gonadectomy. Despite case reports suggesting spontaneous menarche and pregnancies in TS+Y, this research reveals the absence of germ cells, indicating low fertility likelihood. Germ cell neoplasia in-situ was present in some patients, emphasizing a non-negligible risk of cancer precursor. As no malignancies were found even in older individuals, the study challenges the immediate need for prophylactic gonadectomy upon TS+Y diagnosis.

A gynandroblastoma of the ovary in a 17-year-old girl is reported. Primary amenorrhoea, hirsuties and slight clitoral enlargement were associated with the tumour and high levels of circulating testosterone were found. This is the first gynandroblastoma in which Reinke crystalloids have been identified in the Leydig cell component. The criteria for the diagnosis of this tumour and its histogenesis are discussed.

The aim of this study was to determine efficacy and toxicity of TIP combination (paclitaxel, ifosfamid, cisplatin) as first salvage treatment in patients with relapsed germ cell tumours (GCTs). Excellent results were achieved from TIP combination with a dose 250 mg/m(2) of paclitaxel [5].
