Primary Meningeal Melanocytoma in the Left Temporal Lobe Associated with Nevus Ota: a Case Report and Review of the Literature.

BACKGROUND: Primary melanocytic neoplasms of the central nervous system are rare lesions arising from melanocytes of the leptomeninge that are found at highest density underneath the brain stem and along the upper cervical spinal cord. Thus most reported cases of meningeal melanocytomas are located in the posterior fossa and the spinal cord, and presentation of a supratentorial tumor is rare. METHODS: A 19-year-old man presented with a headache and seizure at our department. Neurological examinations were otherwise normal. On physical examination he had asymptomatic, bluish, speckled, and wel

[Orbital, osseous, meningeal and cerebral findings in oculodermal melanocytosis (nevus of Ota). Clinico-histopathologic correlation in 2 patients].

In two patients suffering from congenital oculodermal melanocytosis (nevus of Ota) orbital, osseous, meningeal, and cerebral manifestations are documented. In a 38-year-old European with a nevus of Ota on the right side an ipsilateral orbital tumor was diagnosed and surgically removed. The histological examination revealed a primary spindle shaped malignant melanoma of the orbit. In addition, many benign melanocytes were found in the optic nerve, in the extraocular muscles, in the orbital fat tissue, and in the dura of the sphenoid. In a 17-year-old Ethiopian with a nevus of Ota of the right s

Treatment of Ota's nevus by Q-switched alexandrite laser : therapeutic outcome in relation to clinical and histopathological findings.

Ota's nevus is a dermal melanocytic disease which causes serious cosmetic problems for affected individuals. Recently Q-switched lasers with a pulse duration of 100 nsec or less became available for patient treatment. We evaluated the clinical efficacy of the Q-switched alexandrite laser (755 nm, 100 nsec) in relation to the histopathological findings. Fifty-five Korean patients with Ota's nevus were treated with a Q-switched alexandrite laser for three sessions (7.5 J/cm2) at three month intervals. Skin biopsies were taken in all of the patients before treatment and immediately after treatmen

Efficacy of Q-Switched and picosecond lasers for acquired bilateral nevus of Ota-like macules: a systematic review and exploratory dose-response meta-analysis.

Acquired bilateral nevus of Ota-like macules (ABNOM) is a common dermal melanocytosis predominantly affecting East Asian women. Q-switched (QS) and picosecond (PS) lasers are widely used, but their comparative efficacy and dose-response relationships have not been quantified. We conducted the first systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis to compare PS versus QS laser efficacy for isolated ABNOM. Eleven databases were searched from inception to May 27, 2026. Forty studies (50 treatment arms) of predominantly single-arm case series were included. The primary analysis used generalized l
